Download the Cricket Revolution Demo!

you were a beta tester ?

No, in the demo I have got edges

URGHHHH.. why the hell do cricket fans have to be so needy! they are worse than girls! Everything has to be right for you lot, can't you just be happy there are about 4 cricket games on the market now?

Rafey has been saying this is primarily for online gaming, but apparently all the games have to be super complete packages for cricket. Cricket fans are now gonna be spolit for choice with games so can't we just play what we have instead of just bloudy complaining every time a new one comes on the market?

Played the demo, only did some batting though and I quite like what I saw, I enjoyed playing with the batsmen and thought he played the shots well.. had a bit of a problem with the forward defensive. It's more of a dhoni-esque prod forward than forward defensive and I've never really rated dhoni as a batsmen.

To the PC guys, you are actually being far OTT with the negativity and it makes you wonder how much the transmission guys have given you, is this why the site hasn't crashed recently? Rafey actually comes and comments quite a lot here so is being more interactive than the Transmission guys anyway. You were so positive about Ashes Cricket 09 and now you have thrown it all back in Rafey's face.

Okay maybe a net session wasn't an ideal demo but it does the job. If it's primarily an online game why do you need a 5 over test demo to see what the AI is like?

Here here!!!

Any videos yet?

I'll record some nets sessions this afternoon, and stick it up on youtube this evening

Once you play real game you swill get enough edges and bowling marker is not that hard to control.

I still do not get why are we stopped from posting about game. The demo is out, beta has ended and game will release in 2 weeks time. I would have cleared all the air surrounding the mystery of this game. :laugh

Don't really appreciate this. Can we please make a distinction between personal views of staff which they are entitled to and "PC's view".
Glad to hear you think the site hasn't crashed much recently though ;)

well neither does anyone appreciate you completely screwing CR over. Rafey has done far more interaction than the Transmission guys did, sure they did a few interviews for us, the built the game up to be the dogs nads and it wasn't. CR hasn't built itself up to be the next God or the best thing since sliced bread. It tiptoed in and has impressed most people.

Has there been one positive comment from and mod's or higher on the site? You've complained like an old woman. Sure the game isn't amazing and their are a few things wrong with it. As I said, how important is a 5 over demo to a game based predominantly on online play? The net session is actually a good idea as it allows the player to have a look at the game and also practice for when the person buys the game they can go straight into online gaming as they have been practicing. Instead of spending a couple of hours sharpening their game in the nets. IMO the demo is good for the game.

So my thoughts the game, primarily I'm really impressed. Some of the shots I hit I actually sit here and shout 'SHOT' to myself because it feels so good. The bowling actions aren't of an incredibly quality but they do for what the game is giving us. The major problem I have is with the bowling maker.. it moves to quickly and I can't really put the ball where i want it. When I press 'W' I don't want it to continuously move all the way to the top when really all I want is a good length. I would prefer to have to use my directional keys and maybe it be a bit slower. But even that is getting petty. I really enjoy the batting on this :)

Once again you're totally failing to distinguish between people having personal opinions and an official PC view. Two admins have posted comments and you're determined to make out that it adds up to a conspiracy against CR. I've personally worked with Mindstorm behind the scenes and I've been very impressed with their ethos and ideas. I defy you to find one post from me where I've posted anything negative about them.
Fortunately I know that the guys who work for them are considerably more open-minded than you are and don't take some personal umbridge at people expressing their opinions.
Of course Planetcricket welcomes any new game to the market and we hope it does really well. The more competition the better as far as we're concerned in terms of forcing others, Transmission included, to raise their game.

:clap. Congrats BA. Something from one of you different coloured people. Sure your entitiled to an opinion but does it not get a bit fishy when Ashes 09 was so hyped up and then most posts from the coloured people have been negative over this. I mean WHM didn't even know there was a demo out! From people have been working behind the scenes with Mindstorm it doesn't say much.

How can you get me being closed minded from anything I have posted? Because I went against what the mods said? OMMGG!! He didn't do it did he? I have actually got Ashes Cricket 09 coming to me now. So I'm not so un open minded as you think.

Colin, I think one of the greatest things about your post was this;

Of course Planetcricket welcomes any new game to the market and we hope it does really well. The more competition the better as far as we're concerned in terms of forcing others, Transmission included, to raise their game.

I mean, Transmission just had to be one of the final words didn't it? :clap

Well put Colin. My comments were my own thoughts about the game, admittedly I was probably too brash about my own opinions.

The Cricket game scene seems quite healthy at the moment, and it's great we can all try out new games and different ideas.

Anyway, I'm going to spend some more time with the demo, try and get a better feel for it. How are others finding the demo?

What reason should I have to be overwhelmingly positive about the game? 'At least you are getting a game' and 'it is all about online' don't cut it.

I was positive about AC09 as I had the chance to see it develop from fairly early on in its life, and knew there was a very good game there. Sure the released version sucked in many ways, but the patch made it realise much of its potential. Transmission managed to prove themselves able to make a good game, which is the reason I'm supportive of them, they listened to their customers and acted upon it.

That is not intended to be an attack upon Mindstorm, nor do I expect every company with a cricket game to invite me along to play it, but here we have a new company out to prove itself in a very small market. All they have to try and convince us to purchase is a net session.

So therefore, I made a judgment on the game based on the nets demo, and the controls seem badly thought out. There's no problem making a game difficult, but there is realistic difficulty to consider. No fast bowler who is going to make a cricket team is so bad they can't aim at all and just hurl the ball down and hope for the best, but the bowling cursor jumps around from side to side in about a second, that's very unrealistic and makes for a frustrating bowling experience. The batting controls offer no timing feedback and the huge amount of them is really unnecessary. The two fundamental mechanics of the game are badly wrong in my view, so with the lack of anything else to give me some positive sides of the game, I'm left with a negative impression.

I'd suggest that the demo should just have been a time limited go at the full game, Steam does this frequently and it gives the best way to try a game before buying it. If online is so important to the game, you really have to be able to play online before purchasing.

I'm more than happy to be positive about any game, but I have to have a reason to. Making a judgment about the game based on their demo is hardly an unfair thing to do, it is what nearly everyone else will have done as well until we get some reviews of the final game.

For what it's worth, I didn't know there was a demo because I hadn't visited the site all day, and generally, I read any new feedback in that forum first. As soon as I posted there I went to this forum and wrote up the announcement. I suppose I was supposed to know ahead of time about the demo...

How about you stop complaining and trying to master the controls. To me controls are pretty good after mastering it.

Yea the batting is pretty easy now for me, I time everything well now and get "good shot" for most of my shots .

Have not tried bowling too much, but it does seem like this is most definitly a batsman game. Really want to know how far my shots are going!

same case with me.

am i the only one who feels we need to press the "Advancing Down" button
way before the ball releases ??

Yea the timings are weird for this game, you almost time the "animation" and not the shot.

As the discussion is hot here just posting my view about the discussion going on.Cricket revolution game is there first product they will have some error and its a 3 year old project if i remember so may lack some things we expect, as you all can see they have proved them self by making it to the release hats off too them for there effort.:hpraise
This is a cricket gaming forum so we are here to encourage new comers. In my point of view its not fair to criticize them with only the demo release. we can criticize but before the release of the game its to early.
As for as myself this game needs appreciation a lot even though its not good. My kind request is if you don't like please don't discourage them. This may put an end to them.

From the views and response i think this will withstand the competition with other cricket games available.

Remember this is there first attempt so they have a longway to go.:clap

Sorry if i hurt someone with my post.

jkartik : same case with me.

ya the timing of this game is totally different when compared to other.

there are lot of shots around but some of them really dont work as far as i can see. i think its better if the batsman get close to the ball when blocking the ball. cant say anything about game play. but all in all i say this one looks good... for now

tried bowling and the batsman was spanking me all over the place !! :p

from the looks of it, it feels more like a batsman oriented game......but will bowling a few more trials.
