@Bevab

Look I saw the post yesterday but due to weekend coming up and workload I decided to get the pick by tomorrow within 48 hrs.

And going by the draft rule the next pick was me so instead of tagging @CerealKiller you should have tagged me and waited untill 48 hrs are complete.

Anisur Rahaman :ban:

  • Played 2 Matches for Bangladesh struggled to pick a wicket although had a decent List A career taking with the old ball and of the few Bangladeshi bowler to use the reverse swing
  • Anisur after Retriment served as umpire and officiated few limited overs matches.

I was late for my first pick but as I had another pick coming up my next 24 hrs are still active and will pick my 2nd pick within that period. Meanwhile the mess can continue....

What the heck? I had double pick right? So I get 48 hours for the double pick?

@Aislabie
Damn, calm down a bit yeah? It's a grey area anyway but generally I've always applied 24 hours to double picks given that write-ups can always be left until later

But yeah, these forum drafts generally aren't meant to stress anyone out - it's just a bit of banter while we share details of (in this case) surprisingly bad players

Well whatever I am going ahead with the next pick.....

Reihardt Strydom :ire:

Overall Pick #45: David Williams

Profile
Now, David Williams wasn't my first choice wicket-keeper. I had my eye on a guy who I wanted to open the batting whose ODI record was if anything even worse, but I did some maths while at work and it transpired that oh deary me - I need to get my cap count up. And this, I chose to pick the guy who played 36 games, never bowled and whose batting average rested firmly below ten. Sadly, but completely understandably, he never played as a specialist batsman so he has to take on the gloveman's role in my team.

His glovework was pretty alright - not outstanding, but he was certainly a specialist (as you would hope from a man who could barely hold a bat at international level. Indeed, he never once climbed into the top six, so he can't do so in my side either. Fortunately, there is one man already in my bowling attack who did, so we can still rearrange things in order to fit Williams.

Statistics
ODIS - :bat: 147 runs @ 9.18, SR 60.74 (best 32*) and :wk: 45 dismissals (35 ct, 10 st) in 36 matches
LIST A - :bat: 720 runs @ 14.69, SR n/a (best 53) and :wk: 124 dismissals (91 ct, 33 st) in 103 matches

Role in the Team

Williams slots in at number eight as a specialist gloveman. That means that Mluleki Nkala has to move, and fortunately enough he has experience of batting at number six (and even number three) for Zimbabwe, so now he bats at six for us.

Peter Gillespie
Finally, I have found the Irish player who will be in my side instead of Stuart Poynter (who was my second choice keeper)

Peter Gillespie made an inauspicious start to his ODI career with three consecutive ducks (dismissed with his third ball, second ball and then first ball) and capped it off with 2 runs against NZ. This gave him an average of 0.5 in 4 innings (5 matches). His S/R of 14.28 is understandable because he hardly scored any runs literally.

His list a record is better but it is the performance at the highest level that matters which he failed to do so.

He has batted 5, 6 and 8 with 2 matches at no. 5 and 1 each in 6 and 8. At the moment he can only bat at 5 where he has two ducks.
