this poll is a gud idea i think ea should start from scratch bt blic should not cause there doing a gud job

I think for the schedule/fixtures the should look at ICCCricketCaptain!!!!

Accrding to me,

New Cricket Game = BLICgameplay + EA graphics + ICCcricketCaptain Schedule

shld bring the best so for!!!!

as the Poll says "EA from scratch", EA don't make the game, they just publish it, same goes to "Codies from scratch".

AND, from what it seems cricket 2004 and 2005 aswell as Brian Lara 2005 all appear to be built from scratch

I must be reading that wrong, because there is no way Cricket 2004 and 2005 were built from scratch

They are both just updates of Cricket 2002 and previously BLC 99, using same bowling configs, AI configs, batting configs that were first seen in BLC 99

It was revealed a few months ago that Codemasters would indeed be making the next version of BLIC in-house.

Sorry for implying that...I didnt mean that...and I dont want ppl analysing the first post.

OK BOT - I think that EA or HB or whatever need to make a new game from scratch cos the screwed Ea 2005 big time...never shud there be anyone playing a dated version that has an update cos its better.

Codies/swordfish did a great job.

Because:

They have great shots
And a fun bowling system that just needs to have a little less swing and pace.

Cartoony graphics - not a problem.
Bad names - easy to fix
Too many leading edges - not a huge problem
Not right faces or bats - quite bad
Not enough ability stats for players - very bad
Too easy to hit sixes - annoying
Huge lack places a ball can go in the field (a cut corner noone but me have noticed and sed bout it) - annoying
Bad paces - VERY ANNOYING

The major ones fixed can make a wicked game without the risk of a new total failure

Most of what you said there is quite right, manee, and I agree with you. When I played the game, I found the speeds the bowlers were sending them down at were ridiculous and extremely unrealistic. I was struggling to think the last time Matthew Hoggard had bowled at 65 mph!

However, it really wasn't the developer's fault over issue like incorrect names, faces and bats. This was purely a licencing issue, which has been said before. EA SPORTS have most of the games licences for cricket, so it was basically a challenge for the developers to do it how they did in the end.

I mostly agree with you on the fact that the game has superb shots. They do, but you still feel there could be more shots in the game- the sweep shot, the reverse sweep shot and so on. That's why I'm pleased that The Cricket Project will have 38 shots to its name, as well as a brand new bowling hud.

If you used a controller with a joystick or if you have a ps2 controller get a usb converter and you will see why noone complains. You can literally put the ball anywhere in a 360 degree circle :) When playing my mate it becomes great trying to keep adjusting the field to cut off scoring shots. For example (I know I'm going slightly off-topic here) the computer rarely used the extra cover fielder, so I was putting nearly all of my drives through extra cover. He placed a fielder at extra cover and it took me about 5-10 overs to adjust but eventually I was putting them through cover with a slight adjustment on the joystick :)

Sorry thats not what I meant (I no its heavily implyed)

I meant...if u hit it in the air...it can only go...for a huge six...minor six...one bounce four, just over in field...caught or caught...and no matter how well u time it, if there is a fielder on the boundary a shot will appear sliced

Well, a few months on and Cricket 2005 AND BLIC 05 seemed to be used for the next versions of the game, just slightly updated.
