England in Australia

Indeed Zorax came off about 214 balls as well. Only problem is he hit it against every Aussie bowler bar McGrath and Warne. As we all know, they are quite the double act, and a fair sight better than the rest of the Aussie attack.

I wouldn't read too much into any tour match really; It's all about the warming up rather than the eventual outcome. Look at the way England were thrashed in a warm-up in South Africa 2 years ago yet we won that series 2-1.

If Cook can replicate what he did for Essex then i'll be over the moon! :p

The good thing for the English is we didn't start the series at Perth. Thats where most teams fall apart, lose the first test and the series goes down hill from there. Of course if Flintoff chooses to bowl first on the Gabba you know you could be in for a long day :)

Well, given that Fred bowled first on what seemed to be a batsman friendly pitch on Thursday, I wouldn't write off another Hussain-esque toss at the Gabba this time around.

No chance, I think they just wanted as hard a workout as possible. When it comes to the tests they will almost certainly bat first if given the choice.

I certainly hope so; I wouldn't be too upset if Australia were 320/1 at the close of play, just as long as we didn't give them the opportunity to make that total.

Bloody Nasser! Ruined my trip to Brisbane he did!

the warmup game was just a minor blip on our way to ashes victory :p..

i dont think much of it myself but it doesnt help goin into an away ashes series, and with the best chance of winning away since 1986. i hope g.jones doesnt retain his place for the next tour matches and the test series - seriously what has he done to deserve his place back?!

Agree that you shouldn't read too much into the tour match, it was after all a One day match. The next match against NSW won't count for much result wise but it'll be big for the hopes of Clarke to put his claim forward along with the other Clark.

Is this true, i think i read it on BBC text...

England and NSW have agreed to field 14 men, but only allow the 11 men to bat?

There was talk NSW would bat the whole game out to stuff up the English plans :) That of course won't go down to well with McGrath, Lee and Clark who want a bowl at the English.

Can't see them doing that to be honest; Clark, McGrath, Lee and MacGill will want some match practice.

The only things I want to see in tommorrow's game is a 100 for Tres and some wickets for the bowlers. Tres needs a 100 for confidence just as the bowlers need to bounce back from their hammering on Thursday.

McGrath would love to get Tres with a bouncer just like Tait did. That would really put a dent in his confidence. Lee needs to find some of that form that has been missing lately, if he gets some stick that could really dent his confidence for this Ashes series.

I'd like to see a 4 day match tbh. We know that one day games are only going to dent England's confidence and thus we need as much unlimited overs practice as possible.
