England in Australia

NO! Against Lee, McGrath, MacGill, Bracken and Clark you guys will prolly struggle just to get 1.5days worth of batting.

In clarification of my last post, I was just thinking back to 2005 and how Aussies were scarred by the loss and listening to Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Mad song, brought back a lot of memories. The danger of reading too much into one day form comes from the example of Shane Watson who was pretty effective against the World XI last year but in the tests was quite harmless in bowling terms. His batting in tests should be OK as he averages liek 50 in domestic.

My Aussie XI

Hayden
Langer
Ponting
Martyn
Clarke
Hussey
Gilchrist
Warne
Lee
Johnson/Tait/Bracken/ depends on the pitch
McGrath

and MacGill for Sydney to replace one of the bowlers

If I were English this would be my XI

Trescothick
Strauss
Cook/Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Flintoff
Read
Panesar
Harmison
Hoggard
Lewis

If you're going with Tait or Johnson I would carry Watson just so we have another bowling option if they go the journey like we saw in the final Ashes test last year. Either way I would probably play Watson anyway.

You guys are forgetting Clark. I reckon he's a dead cert over johnson/tait/bracken. And he should be - he's come off a brilliant series and is back in great form for NSW (more so than Tait is for SA). The Aussie selectors have the luxury of testing him in tomorrow's warmup so maybe that might sway things. If he does really poorly then they might look at Johnson.

I dunno about playing Clark. I could just see someone like Pietersen or Flintoff getting after him and releasing the pressure which was set by the other bowlers.

I'd feel more comfortable with Bracken, Tait or Johnson filling the slot.

a quick question is englands match vs new south wales coming on tv in the uk

Doubt a 3 day game with no first class status will have full coverage.

Well, I checked on Sky Text and it doesn't say anything about New South Wales vs England coverage I'm afraid. :(

i know its a warmup match

but facing a team like that will mentally drain the english team

i suspect sajid mahmoods tour is already over after the beating he got yesterday

monty was lucky he only got 3 overs

Why was Monty lucky? And no Sajs tour isn't over. Aussies got tonked vs Essex summer before last, yet was their tour over?

Well, they did lost to Somerset and Bangla as well and lost the Ashes. So you could say so...

They also won the first test by 229 runs or something along those lines...
But they lost the series. The tour was a failure for them. In essence, the warmup loss spelled doom, even if they didn't admit it...
And Alistair Cook, double century in that match I believe, might be playing against them in this one...
