England in Australia

Clarke out at the stroke of tea.
MUFC wins the bet :D
England mst clean up the tail ASAP and get on to batting.
Australia will want to rack up as they can in quick time then take some wickets before the close of play.

May well see them declare the way Clarke was going. If not expect some fireworks from Clark as he is fresh off a very quick fire 50.

Hmm, 38.3 overs left in the day. Take off the three for the change over, so we should have 35 more overs. England need to take 10 at the very most to get rid of Clark and McGrath and then 25 overs should be a good amount to get stuck in and hopefully towards 100.

He's already a world class allrounder so I fail to see why he needs to bowl more to be considered world class. He bowled himself too much earlier in the season which is why he was out for a few months, which we don't need to happen again.

Yes you are correct - he is considered a world class all rounder. But if it wasn't for his bowling he would be only an average batsman and my point is more related to him being a world class bowler as that is his more talked about discipline.

Currently Flintoff is only bowling short spells (4 or 5 overs) and will only end up bowling around 20% of the overs. To me that is not enough for your best bowler. It seems that the main reason is just a fear of injury. I haven't followed his career enough - but has he only been injured after he has done a lot of bowling? Until its proven that overworking himself has led to his injuries he should be bowling as much as possible - particularly as the start of a session where batsmen aren't settled.

I wonder what Ponting declare total is, most of the commentators are saying they should declare if another wicket falls. I wouldn't mind seeing McGrath get out there just for a bit of fun.

I don't get the point in this really. Sure Australia only want to bat once, but if they declare now they can have 25+ overs which is enough to use the new ball and get a decent spell out of Warne tonight. The last thing they want is to have Warne using a new ball tonight you'd imagine.

Flintoff has the history of injuries as most young pace bowlers seem to get. However, recently it has been to him being overworked, or rather over-working himself.

Why should he be bowling so many overs? He's a strike bowler and has bowled 26 overs out of 150. You wouldn't expect Brett Lee to bowl a lot of overs during the day would you? So why should Flintoff?

It's Ponting hes not a very aggressive captain and he showed that against SA last year. I do agree with what one of the commentators were saying in declaring after that massive over by Clark would have been the best time. McGrath still has his pads on so that suggest he will bat.

Clark whacks 2 6s off Anderson, boyo this Clark is a decent tail ender.

Well, not really. They were slogs, but very effective. I hope it continues.

Freddy picks up another great bowling by the captain yet again. Good batting by Clark too very quick knock which has got our total moving. McGrath is out there now so 600 probably is the target.

Just reading up on Cricinfo and Cricket Australia seem to have been awfully stupid with regards to the Barmy Army. Spreading them out is one thing, but kicking a guy out for playing a trumpet, after they'd already arranged that he could play it? It's pathetic and ruining the spirit of the game as a whole and especially the spirit that the Ashes were played in, in the last series.

600 up, Ponting getting ready to declare so it was more about demoralizing the English.
Nice shot to bring it up as well.

Declearation at 602, England need 403 to avoid the follow on. Now for the interesting stuff how will our bowlers go.

Is Stuart Clark the new Afridi? Never knew he could hit so well...
Aussies mauled the English here. Freddie took 4/9 of the wickets to fall. And he was supposed to bowl less.
Giles and Monty should both play, Saj and Hoggy the seamers. Drop Harmy and Anderson. Enough batting depth. Saj seems more promising than Harmison at the moment to me. He keeps it full (Something I couldn't see Harmy doing), has good pace, a good short one, and swings it. If they need short stuff, they've got Freddie, who seems good enough to bowl a nice long spells.
