England in Australia

I predict McGrath all 10 wickets ;)
Honestly quite a bit of movement Hoggard was getting and those cracks are even bigger now and unlike the English our bowlers will actually put the ball on the spot.

I am disappointed that Australia didn't get a lead of about 800 runs, so I could see a historical victory. Hitters like Ponting, Martyn, Hussey and Gilchrist could have easily reached that in 15-20 overs. Lead now is on 647 runs.

I'd predict 4 wickets for McGrath for a 10 wicket haul and maybe a 5 wicket haul for Clark! :p Both have been bowling right on the money.

I would love to have him back, but even if he came back for the 3rd test (theres no way Fletcher will bring him back for the 2nd test), would he still be captain. My understanding was that even if Vaughan came back, Flintoff would be captain for the remainder of the Ashes.

Also, dont want to rush him back, if we do and he is either severly out of touch or gets another career threatening injury, we will regret it.

how can you rush someone who is 100% fit back?
100% fit in these terms is physical fitness. How much match practice has he had in the last 6 months. None, so although his knee may feel fine when netting it is different when he is playing games, day in, day out. Like when he was supposedly coming back last June, he played a couple of games for Yorkshire, was doing well then his knee gave way again.

Also who would give way? Vaughan's form before his injury was pretty ropey...
Good point, you would have to say Collingwood at the moment. he hasn't really made a big score since the 1st test against Pakistan at Lords against a 2nd string bowling attack. To be honest by the time the 3rd test comes around, England could be out of it. And if they are then theres no point risking Vaughan.

yep colly would go although a world class fielder just hasnt had a good run of form with is bat btw how long till jones is back?

Tsk tsk tsk, Strauss caught hooking this time. Clark grabs another for this match at his favoured end. What more it was our 12th man that took the catch :)

Once again an England batsman gets out to a short ball, I thought Strauss would be England's best chance, now that he's gone, this test match changes and Australia are even hotter favourites than they were before.

Anyway look on the bright side, only 617 more runs to go.

Maybe a reminder of Gary Pratt in that last wicket.
