England in Australia

Wish I could stay up until 7am and watch it all like I did yesterday but I have school tommorow so I can't :(

Is Flintoff ever going to bowl himself this morning? Great way to get Hussey and Ponting settled. Give them an hour against Anderson, Harmison, Hoggard to play themselved in. Flintoff really needs to bowl more if he wants to be considered world class.

Also, can I just remind everyone that Geraint Jones and Ashley Giles both played in 2005 and England somehow managed to win the series with those 2 playing. Not to mention a wet behind the ears Ian Bell. So thats 3 guys they carried and still won. Doesn't that give any of you Poms hope for this series? Those 3 can only improve as I see it. Giles bowled better yesterday than he did in 2005 series, Bell has improved greatly (so I'm told), and Jones has a chance to improve either his catching rate or his batting - both of which sucked in 2005.

I personally would play Read and Monty but Jones/Giles isn't THAT bad. They certainly haven't thrown away the series by playing them as some are suggesting.

He's already a world class allrounder so I fail to see why he needs to bowl more to be considered world class. He bowled himself too much earlier in the season which is why he was out for a few months, which we don't need to happen again.

Flintoff looked extremely threatening when he came on to bowl. Almost had Ponting with an absolute ripper that bounced a lot more than Ponting expected. That grabbed Hussey right through the gate although he didn't look overly happy with the wicket.

I think the reason why he wasn't overly happy with the wicket was because he's realised that he's going to have to take all 10 for the poms to have a chance at this rate. All the other's look like Sunday league bowlers compared to Freddy at the moment. Anderson and Hoggard are steady without looking dangerous and Harminson is all over the shop. It'll be interesting to see how the Poms bat now as they are really just trying to save the game after this start although theres still alot of cricket left.

Hoggard has done something at last and what more a bowler other than Flintoff has got a wicket. Just cliping the stumps hawk eye suggest but didn't look good for Ponting and it was a good call.

Wow Hoggard grabs another in that over the big one in Gilly for a duck, his bad run against the English and bowlers bowling around the wicket continues.

I've got to admit, when Warne is on the field it always gets a bit interesting. I'd count that as our first drop, although it was difficult, he did make the ground up.

Bad luck Ponting. Kinda deserved it, but it happens. 4 runs doesn't make me think anything less of the innings. Brilliant.

Good bowling from Hoggard. Now England need to get the tail out quickly.

May well give Harmy the confidence he needs. Good return to the test side by Clarke with a 50. Warne does add excitement but you never know which Warne will turn up to bat. Lee's batting looks much more solid. I wouldn't mind seeing McGrath in next as hes real fun to watch.

I'm putting money on a Clarke century and Australia getting to 600 and that either Strauss or Cook will be back in the pavillion by tonight's proceedings. :D

I'll take the century part of that bet. :D

Getting out a tail ender with yet another short ball down the leg side would give me huge confidence.

Clarke batted pretty well, no surprises in how he got out though.
