England In India - October 2011/12

Accusing Laxman of putting vaseline on his bat? Even if it was true, I would not blame Laxman at all. If technology can be cheated like that, I will blame the technology, not the batsman.

Not sure that first bit makes sense, but the last part does. Using almost classified military technology to sense whether a ball has hit an edge is crazy complicated when you think about it and if Vaseline is all it takes to disrupt such expensive and difficult technology, then I don't see much future for it. Part of me just wants a pitch map for LBWs (and hotspot for inside edges), sound only for caught behinds. Forget the rest.

Oh and I'm really glad I caught some of this session. Ian Bell :clap That back foot shot he played off Harbhajan through the off side in the last couple of overs there was absolute poetry, shot of the series thus far IMHO.

So it is ok to cheat - if you don't get caught................................?!?! :thumbs

On a serious note, I don't believe hot spot should be used for anything other than Strike It Lucky TV shows. If you can't SEE the contact then I would say benefit of doubt should go to the batsman (or bowler if an LBW decision) What next? Giving batsmen out because of noises? Snickers-o-meter is another one that I wouldn't trust my wicket on, replays are fine, dorkeye at a push for want of better alternatives to make predictive calls, but all else should be based on vision only.

I am bemused by the debate the pundits have over replays for "clean catches", they reckon replays give fielders no chance whereas I suspect they think benefit of doubt should be employed when there is suggestion the ball touched the ground. They'll be arguing next that the grass blades shouldn't count as touching...................... :rolleyes

Of the 3 I remember, two were right and one was pretty close.

Yep, tipping Dravid to get out on single figures the day before, only for him to register a top notch hundred, is 'pretty close' to a perfect prediction indeed. Full marks to you. IIRC (might be wrong here), only your 'Bell-KP partnership success' has turned out to be right.

The match In englands favour now. Indians dont look like they are even close to picking any wickets.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. My predictions so far:

1. India to follow on at lords - Pretty close.
2. India to not even getting close to making 450 in the first innings - correct.
3. Dravid to get out in single figures - wrong by a long shot.
4. KP and Bell to bat well together - correct.
