England In India - October 2011/12

Can India do a repeat of Trent Bridge 2002 when the trio of Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly got together to save India the match (incidentally it was also the second test and in that series, the first test was at Lord's where India had lost just like the current one)? Here Dravid and Tendulkar remain and Laxman is there in place of Ganguly. Most likely we will be left with a mountain of a target (450+ easily) with 5 sessions or so to bat out to save the match. In hindsight, India can feel good that this pitch has gotten really easy for batting (the new ball does something but its not deadly as it was in the first two days; even Bresnan survived the new ball, Trott was obviously hampered by the injury or else he might have also survived the new ball easily). That Broad spell on Day 2 is the focal point of the match. Hate that guy so much!:p:D

Not seen this Bell incident, but sounds like common sense won over in the end.

Not seen today or yesterdays play. Highlights on Sky+ at home, so may be busy with those on Weds.

Incredible cricket by the looks of it.

450-500? Weather looks good, declaration at or just after Lunch. Turnaround of mega proportions! Was really fearful that we'd be out of this game and facing a 1-1 series going in to match 3!

As David Gower said, Rahul Dravid was a "fantastic spokesperson" for the Indians.

The Indians did not look like the world's best team. They looked like Bangladesh in that last session. Sharma looked exhausted, the Kumshot looked injured and the whole bowling attack (apart from 2 of the Kumshot's overs) looked ineffective and poor. How much of that was the attack and how much of that was pitch remains to be seen.

Prior looked like Adam Gilchrist today and England looked like the best team in the world. However, tomorrow and Tuesday, India might look like the best team in the world when they chase down 400-odd.

Whats with this "Kumshot"?

I wish we had been bullied by England right from the beginning instead of controlling the game for 6 sessions and then losing it all. All the hopes were up of a victory, and now the feeling of being let down does not sink in well.

What a days play!! 101 overs, well over 400 runs, a solid lead and classy innings by most of England's batsmen.
Firstly, I just want to say hats off to the whole Indian team for allowing Bell back on to play, personally I would have said tough luck, although it is hard when the opposition captain comes and asks for a player to be reinstated. I think Strauss should have had a little more pride than that.
Ok, so controversy aside, I think Bell's century here is his best yet. He looked in charge from ball 1 and Pieterson also looked good until he lost his rag (:facepalm).
England need to declare at about 400, give India a sniff and try to ball them out. It still haven't seen the ruthlessness from either team to show that they are ready to dominate the number one spot.

India winning ODI worldcup, England becoming the no.1 test team and Broad taking a hattrick, it must be the end of world in 2012.

Kumshot is just a nickname, Sai :)

It just struck me when his name came up on the TV: "Kumar".. BANG Kumshot could be his nickname!

Ya know....it's getting to the point where most Indian fans are admitting that India is being beaten by a superior team. To be fair, I think we have done incredibly well over the last few years given our bowling attack. Somehow or the other, it has managed to take wickets and India has managed to pull off victories, such as that in Durban where SA lost, although I think SA were the better outfit.

Harbhajan has to go. Quite simply. Give Mishra a chance.

What a day for the English, when I left they were 2/80 odd. Ended up with over 400 runs in a day, quite the change in tempo from the first two days. Bell is also starting to live up to his potential, average starting to heads towards 50.
