England In India - October 2011/12

Moving back on topic, having been brought up in the '90s and through the domination of the Aussies, I never thought I'd see the day where England would be numero uno in Test cricket.

I'm still a little skeptical about this England team. I'll have to see how they go in India before I can really call them number 1 but things are looking very good. Their biggest advantage is that the majority of their players still have time on their hands. They have virtually everything- fantastic openers, solid middle order (Morgan questionable but he has silenced me for now), good keeper who bats just as well, great spinner and fantastic pace bowling reserves.

Why the hell is everyone just adding on comments on India's poor show just because they are playing horribly. Yeah they are playing horrible but that doesn't mean that England is true number 1. Calm down guys!!! No need to spark any arguements here. India wasn't true number 1 team in Test cricket nor does England become number 1 even if it beats India 4-0 or if this match was 9 match series then 9-0. This is England and every lion is dangerous in its den. If England plays 4 tests in India then England will most likely be in the same position. This is away series and almost every team struggles in away matches. People already proved that rankings are flawed so who in the world cares if England gets the "number 1" status in the ICC rankings? no one gives a sht about it. There is absolutely no need to start wars about anything and especially IND vs PAK. Just enjoy the 4 test match series and keep hoping India get atleast 1 win here lol. Let England get the rank 1 because it is useless anyways. They get ranked 1 in ICC rankings so what? They aren't true numbe 1 nor is India true number 1 right now. If IND beats ENG in England and in India then they are better than ENG and if ENG beats IND in England and in India then they are better than IND. Its quite simple.

you forgot to add one thing...Luck. Not saying that their wins are coming with luck but its pretty lucky that IND is touring England when every one of their player is on the form of their life. I doubt this result would be what they are when the whol Indian team was in form like they were when SA toured IND when Sehwag scored 300.

Well i just read the Cricinfo Article Sehwag the savior after he got a pair :lol

Looking 3-0 atm and 4-0 is not looking out of sight as well.Pathetic performance by Indian Team so far.India should change their mindset(or may be bowlers) that if Zaheer is not playnig,we are gonna be hammered.Even when india had become No.1,I had a feeling that india will gonna face serious problems if they didn't find bowlers other than Zaheer who is hardly available round the year

But Still it's their batting which is not performing upto their Standards or actually not upto any standard. They have the ability but still no signs of Any miracle happening here for India.

Ughhh...now Vaughan wants to play games with Sachin. Oh well he should just enjoy his days in his backyard because in india, Sachin will tear him apart because that is his backyard.

Yawn should shut up, if you want to make him then just ask him how many wins he enjoyed as captain over India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka (combined)..................

Never expected England to muller the Indians like this, and a queen pair for Shewag to boot. Can't believe Boycs is criticising England and Cook in particular, they were securing a series win, making sure England only have to bat once, and left over TWO DAYS to take 10 wickets, I'd not be critical of England for making sure of a series win and probably a 3-0 lead to take them top, deservedly or otherwise, of the rankings If they had batted like that going into day four with prospect of getting a day mostly washed out then fair enough, I think Boycs just likes to criticse and whinge.

Poor old Teeny Bopar, made to wait and then flopped. Add that to his paltry 105 series runs against the aussies, might be the last time we see him bat in Tests for a while. Morgan was lucky, but end of the day a lucky hundred p1sses all over an unimpressive seven. Should be an uninteresting day's cricket, they might get the day off tomorrow, but I'd think the Indians might as well declare now and concede the game, set and series

You're right. We've been very lucky to lose two tosses in ideal bowling conditions, Trott and Tremlett to injury and numerous lbw calls because India refuse to use hawkeye.

What rubbish - England put a similar beat down on Australia 6 months ago and no one was calling for them to be expelled from Tests. It just proves that England is good, not that India is awful - although I'm sure they could have played a lot better. Just like Australia could have.

I actually think that India will beat Australia in the series later this year.

In Australia. If Zaheer Khan is fit you'll definitely win.

Cricinfo said:
India, however, were hit by injuries to key players - Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh - at various points during the tour.

See, I don't buy this.
Khan - yes
Sehway - maybe
Gambhir - missed one test
Harbhajan - are you kidding me?
Yuvraj - wasn't even selected originally

Indians are usually get thier form back from Australia but I feel there bowling is just way too weak and Australia will closely look at this series.

I think if Australia can't sort themselves out over the next 7 Tests, then they deserve to get beat. Can India do the same playing only ODIs in that time? It seems less likely.
