England In India - October 2011/12

As everyones been saying recently, the quality of the England domestic scene is very poor can't even bowl India out for less that 50.

That duck is good enough for Yuvraj to not play the first test at the least. A huge sigh of relief more than anything else. :D

Ah, the typical Indian start to an overseas tough tour. Hope we get a good hard jolt here itself that helps us recuperate when we face the real stuff at Lord's. Opportunity for Raina here. If he scores decent runs, he is a sure starter for Lord's. Yuvraj has fluffed up his opportunity. Gambhir was still in IPL T20 mode (the way he batted)

Anybody watching the game live? Damn Willow not covering it. Wanna see Sachin bat.

what a drubbing at the hands of Somerset.. lol

Thank you BCCI to keep Indian team running round the year and filling up the overstuffed coffers. Just imagine how we would have fared had even this 1 3day encounter not been there.

Straight from Eng tour, most of our national players will get occupied in Champions League then 5ODIs with Eng, and heading straight into home series with WI..and then the all important one warm up game before we take on Australia.. :lol:lol

Still Dhoni, Laxman, Harbhajan, Ishant, Praveen are resting and have not had a taste of England conditions and these guys will take guard at Lord's straightaway. I would be delighted if we escape defeat at Lord's (even a draw would be an achievement).

The team for Lord's is more or less confirmed. I would play Sreesanth despite him getting knocked around. He has got a game in these conditions than Praveen who would be too fresh for Lord's. Sreesanth can improve once the real thing comes in. Zaheer, Ishant, Sreesanth would be the pace attack and Harbhajan would be the spinner. Raina would be the 2nd spinner (if needed) and he would be our 6th batsmen ahead of Yuvraj. Mukund should play all tests till Sehwag comes back.

Wow. India is living up to its notorious reputation as slow starters. I wish Somerset manage to force a follow on, coz only that would wake up the legends and youngsters altogether from the WC/IPL hangover;).

Anyone seriously doubt Raina's spot in our XI for the Lord's test? As much as I was hugely skeptical of Raina's test match problems to the short ball and other stuff, he has shown tremendous application, temperament and the stomach to fight it out. He had a wonderful test series in WI, and looks like he is going to have another one here in England.

Although we're slow starters but this is just plain embarrassing lol. Difficult to believe our batsmen found difficult to bat on the very same pitch where England's domestic players scored 4+ Rpo.

You know that this is a practice match right? India will get annihilated in the first test as well. They are just going through their usual routine. 2nd test onwards is when India starts to come into their own.

A guy in poor form by his standards, another guy just returning from injury and two batting all rounders have taken India apart on an absolute road. Shocking to be honest.

It's a sign of how this match has gone, that our two best prospects hardly batted due to the dominance of Suppiah, Compton and Jones.
