England In India - October 2011/12

I think the issue with that runout was, that in the frame that the ball had hit the wicket and the bail was disturbed, it wasn't quite clear whether the bail had been completely dislodged or whether any part of that bail was still on the wicket.

Doesn't actually matter, as it was obvious the bail wasn't going to be falling back on the wicket from watching it at full speed. That's the only point at which you need to know if the bail is completely dislodged. Unfortunately there is such a huge space between frames, I wish we could have high-speed cameras for the runouts, would make it so much clearer.

Anyway, decisions aside. This has been a fairly typical first match of the series. England have been a bit messy in places, good in others. Way too many wides again.

India are really getting the momentum!! Dhoni looks so determined and different player as to tests!!

Go India Go

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but is there a reason that this game is not on Sky Player? Says it's not available on Sky Go? Why? All other England cricket has been.

I'm confuzzled.

Also, why not play the likes of Borthwick, Butler et al. Next world cup is 4 years time, is Samit Patel really the sort of player to win a world cup :/ Is there anything we need to know about KP other than when the game is important, he'll probably turn up? Dissapointed in the selections to be honest, perfect chance to have a look at some potential future players in conditions they haven't played much in. In one word - Cowardly.

Why K.P is fielding like Indian Players :p Apart from that catch he took, he's been below par today.

India from being 80 for 3 at the end of 20 overs to make 300 runs is awesome. We did this every time in England in the ODI series but back then Luck favored them, hope this time it favors us. There is no rain possibility I suppose!! :p

WTF was that shot!! I am mesmerized!! What power! tweaking ????!!

Even Neo had some problem. Didn't get to see first 3 overs of the match. Though I'm happy they are broadcasting in HD for this series. I was worried that i had to watch the match in crap resolution after watching last few months of cricket on Star Cricket HD :p

This was because they did not pay the amount of 4 crore to I&B ministry. They did that after the first ball was bowled

It might just be because of the same reason I mentioned earlier. Thats what cricinfo wrote

161 runs coming in the last 15 overs!! Woho!!

Really...That just sucks. They bought the rights for such a high profile series and then do this.:facepalm

Anyway, can anyone tell me what exactly happened between PK and Cook in the Final over??? My Satelite Tv lost signal for 5 minutes and cricinfo just wrote that they are having a go at each other. What was that all about :p

Television coverage of England's first one-day international against India was disrupted by a picture blackout.

The loss of coverage was caused by a breakdown in negotiations between production company Nimbus and the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian government.

Sky Sports duo David Lloyd and Nick Knight were forced to provide a phone commentary of the action.

Swann really is England's only genuine quality ODI bowler. Every game, teams just see his 10 overs out for somewhere around 30-40 runs. Normally gets one wicket in there somewhere.

Do any other England fans have faith in Patel? I don't even really know where he's supposed to bat. I have no faith in him constructing a good innings at the top and I don't back him to come in and smash a quickfire 30 off 15 at the end. I don't back his bowling to stem runs when the opposition is on top, nor to keep pressure on and take wickets when we are. His fielding is below average.

So on that note, why is he still in the team? Anyone else feel differently? Does anyone see an integral member of the team in Samit?

What happened to Adil Rashid? A while back he seemed to be a genuine prospect. :spy

I being an Indian, also see no use of Samit Patel. IMO England's lineup(Fully fit) should look like this

AN Cook*
C Kieswetter?
IJL Trott,
KP Pietersen
Ian Bell
RS Bopara
JM Bairstow
TT Bresnan
GP Swann
SJ Broad
JW Dernbach

Dernbach,Broad,Swann,Swann & part timers from Bopara and Pietersen. Plus batting heavy side
