England in Ireland

It was Ed Joyces decision, remember that though James.

I also agree he probably should be playing for Ireland.

Hardly a first for Cricket though.

Yeah I can't deny that, and I'm probably being a bit selfish. If I could play for a test playing nation, I would definatley be tempted, although the question of patriotism comes into things as well.

Certainly does.

I don't mind Joyce playing for England, but I agree with Andrew in that he should be ineligible for the World Cup as iirc, he helped Ireland get there.

Joyce is older than I thought, 28.

I've just realised you can watch the match live on the bbc website if you are a UK user :)

Go to BBC Sport and you can watch it over the net, as NTL users don't have BBC2 NI

England: E C Joyce, M E Trescothick, A J Strauss, P D Collingwood, I R Bell, J W M Dalrymple, G O Jones, G Chapple, L E Plunkett, S I Mahmood, S J Harmison

Although CricInfo says Loudon is in. Great depth in batting in that team, Bell will be 4 imo.

As Kev said at the top.

KP being rested for his Hammy, Harmi's ankle is heavily strapped.

Tres has played some cracking shots, Joyce out to a hook that went skyward, maybe aome justice for Andrew :D

Strauss now gone, on the pull to square leg, silly boy, for 4.

Trescothick gets a quickfire fifty.

And Collingwood is starting to hit now too. But just as I type this, he is out.

Runrate is good for England, but available wickets are lessening.

Amazing, both Ireland's opening bowler's are Australian. I do know of Johnston; he played Grade over here not long ago. Anyway, England in a bit of bother early on wickets wise, but the scoring rate is very healthy. They bat a long way down with Loudon and Plunkett there to support Jones- he'll need a big one if required today, as well as Bell.

45.1 JF Mooney to Bell, OUT, the end of an uninspiring innings, Bell caught at midwicket to a rare aggressive shot. While he was trying to play his way back into Test reckoning, it was hardly the big hitting and improvisation this capacity crowd expected
IR Bell c Joyce b JF Mooney 80 (101b 4x4 0x6) sr: 79.20

Cricinfo's take on Bell's dismissal, and I must say I'm annoyed about this. He's scored 80, at a strike rate of 80, with 4 fours. This shows he's been working the ball around nicely for ones and two's, and this is just the sort of thing I feel England need in the middle order, support for big, aggressive players, like Trescothick, Pietersen and Flintoff. Yet Cricinfo say he hasn't done his test chances any good.

It's no real secret that I'm a big Ian Bell fan; is Cricinfo being harsh on him here, or is it just me?

England reached 301/7 in their 50 overs. The amount of runs should be enough to defend it.

I thought he batted well, for some reason he's being expected to smack it around for 6. 2nd strongest batsman today, although he should have picked up the pace a little bit, but good fielding prevented England getting 20/30 runs more.

Bell did a important job for us in the middle order, listening to the BBC commentary team on-line he clearly wasn't a batsman who connected with every shot or looked composed at the crease.

Harmison atm is as accurate as a American bomber pilot.

I'm watching it online. Can't remember the last time I actually saw England play an ODI rather than had to listen to it!
