Hi there and a very good afternoon to all... Hello and welcome to Sharjah Cricket Ground in Sharjah for the 1st One-Day Match in the series.
The ground is already nearly full for the start of this game. Right, lets go down to the pitch where David Lloyd is ready for the pitch and weather reports.
Weather Conditions:It is already hot out here in the middle but as the floodlights turn on, the temperature will get cooler and the outfield will get wet due to the dew.
Pitch Report
As for the pitch, it is known to offer assistance to the bowlers mostly the spinners. Adil Rashid on debut will look for the cracks which will develop in the later stages of the game. Also, the pace-bowlers will get natural and lateral swing with the new White Ball. If I won the toss, I would easily bat first.
Lets see the Highest and Lowest ODI Totals at Sharjah:
* The Highest ODI total at Sharjah is 338/4 set by New Zealand against Bangladesh in 1990.
* The lowest ODI total at Sharjah is 50 all out set by India against Sri Lanka in 2000.
England captain Paul Collingwood won the toss and elected to bat. Would this decision prove costly later in the match?

Batsmen Struggle In First 10 Overs
(Mustard Departs)
Everything was ready for the game to start. Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga shared the new ball as debutant Phil Mustard and Alistair Cook strode out to the middle. Vaas and Malinga were troubling Mustard and Cook early one with movement off the pitch. Batting was looking very difficult on this wicket. Sri Lankan Skipper Mahela Jayawardene gave Vaas and Malinga two slips. After 5 runs in the first 5 Overs, Phil Mustard departed after a great catch by Farveez Maharoof at Fine Leg.
It was the unotherdox Lasith Malinga with the wicket of Mustard. Malinga bowled a quick half-volley which caught Mustard off guard as he attempted the little leg glance.
So the first 10 Overs have ended and so far Sri Lanka are dominating England here. Cook is struggling and Ian Bell is scoring watchfully.

Bell And Collingwood Steady The Ship As 2 More Wickets Fall
Alistair Cook's ODI position was in jeopardy as he was outdone by Lasith Malinga. It was Malinga again who had done the damage.
Cook, looking frantically for a single or a boundary played the wrong shot as some late in-swing by Malinga drew the ball towards the stumps. England were in trouble now as the run-rate was very low. Then came Kevin Pietersen. He did not last that long either as he was bowled through his defences by part-timer off-spinner Tillakaratne Dilshan.
However as the crisis was unfolding at the other end, there was Ian Bell looking cool, and calm and ticking the scoring rate along. England Skipper Paul Collingwood arrived to the crease. He had a chat with Ian Bell about the pitch and what it was doing. They steadily started with singles as the ball was still swinging.
After 20 Overs though, Ian Bell is still there and he is accompanied by England Skipper Paul Collingwood. Will England lose another wicket?
England 58/3 20 Overs
*I.Bell 23(54) 3x4
*P.Collingwood 11(23)
Last Wickets
A.Cook b L.Malinga 2(19)
K.Pietersen b T.Dilshan 7(19)
