Story England's Tour of New Zealand and Zimbabwe

Why has Nkala been dropped. Though he didn;t get a wicket he was quite economical considering and he got 51 in the second innings!!! What are Zimbabwe thinking?

Well I thought it would be better to have a medium fast bowler (Mupariwa) in place of a swing bowler(Nkala) since the conditions and the pitch will not have any assistance for swing movement.

also...nkala has broken his nose and will be unavailable for 1 week

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Former England captain Nasser Hussain has announced that he will retire from test cricket after the test series against India. England host India for two tests, at Lords and Old Trafford. Nasser Hussain had earlier decided not to tour Zimbabwe for the two test match series. This means England will be without the services of Nasser Hussain for the Ashes.

UPDATE: Day 1 (At Stumps)
ENGLAND 115/1 (1st Innings)
M. Trescothick 62*
A. Strauss 22*

ZIMBABWE 220 all out (1st Innings)
M. Vermeulen 63
B. Taylor 50
T. Taibu 50

S. Harmison 4/65
G. Batty 3/62

ZIMBABWE LEAD BY 105 RUNS

Zimbabwe started of well, despite losing Stuart Matsikenyeri for 11. Mark Vermeulen smashed all the England bowlers all over the park, and reaching his fifty in no time. Brendon Taylor, who has been Zimbabwe's most consistent player scored another half century, but yet again failed to convert it into a big score. However, the lower middle order failed to respond, and Zimbabwe were bowled out for 220 after being 151/3 at one stage.

England's two openers started off well with both Trescothick and Vaughan looking in good form. But just when things were going smoothly for England, Chigumbura strikes for Zimbabwe, dismissing Michael Vaughan for 29. England decide against sending a night watchman, and Strauss joins Trescothick in the middle. At the end of day 1, England are 115/1, 105 runs behind Zimbabwe.

UPDATE:
England 417-7 (1st Innings)
R. Johnson 46*
G. Batty 25*
C. Read 82
M. Trescothick 64

S. Matsikenyeri 2/50
T. Panyangara 2/68

Zimbabwe 220 all out (1st Innings)

ENGLAND LEAD BY 197 RUNS

England started day 2, 105 runs behind the Zimbabwean 1st Innings total of 220. Everyone got off to good starts, but no one could really carry on and score a big one. Chris Read top scored with 82, while Trescothick was second with 64. However, since everyone contributed to the total, England at the end of day 2, find themselves a healthy 197 runs ahead. Richard Johnson and Gareth Batty have done very well to remain unbeaten on 46 and 25 respectively, and England can still make an attempt to reach 500, which will put Zimbabwe under a lot of pressure.

mate...ur tour's good no doubt, but ur screens can get annoying at times. especially the ones showin batsmen gettin caught. for such dismissals it wud be good if u cud capture a screen the moment the batsmen plays the false shot and then run a sequence leadin to his dismissal (reducin pic size like waugh_machine wud save loads of space)...rather than showin an open field w/ 2 lil men (the fielders obviously). it does kinda get boring. hope u tk it in the good sense. gdluck w/ ur ICC Trophy!

thanks for ur suggestion mate...i will take this into account from my next match (please note that ive already takes screenshots before reading this post, so you might see some of them in some of the upcoming posts)

regarding reducing pic size...if i reduce it any more the faces and other things get compressed a bit too much.

England have recorded another innings victory over Zimbabwe, as the second test match lasted only three days..........england complete a comprehensive 2-0 whitewash of zimbabwe in the test series, following that 3-0 sweep of the ODI series.

Steve Harmison was named Man of the Match and Man of the Series as well.

This is the summary of England's tour of NZ and Zim.

Beat Northern Districts in warm up ODI
Beat New Zealand 3-2 in the National Bank ODI series (5 ODIs)
Beat Canterbury in warm up 5 day match
Drew 1-1 with New Zealand in the National Bank Test Series(three test matches)
Beat Zimbabwe 3-0 in the Nissan ODI series (3 ODIs)
Beat Zimbabwe 2-0 in the Zimsun Test Series (2 Test Matches)

Full details of day 3 coming up soon.

Coming up next: ICC Champions Trophy, England v India (2 npower tests), England v India v Australia (natwest series), England v Australia (The Ashes, 5 npower tests), England v Zimbabwe (natwest challenge - 3 ODIs).

Following this win England have moved up to no.2 in the ICC Test Ratings behind Australia(1) and ahead of South Africa(3) and India (4).
England are also upto fourth place in the ODI Ratings, behind Australia(1), India(2), Pakistan(3) and New Zealand(4).

Well played buddy. Impressive performance again but the real test lies ahead in the ICC Champions trophy. Good luck in that and I look forward to watching that thread unravel.

Keep up the good work.
