Roy hits back to back hundreds, looks a very good player. Dernbach also took 4/7 off about 5 overs. Surrey remain unbeaten in the CB40 which is honestly a pretty good effort!

Yep, be nice to see Surrey competing in all formats, can't do better than Grizzly up there either.

Disappointing defeat tonight, we really should have won. But Middlesex have to beat us by about 200 runs or chase down a total in about a third of the overs we scored them in!

BBC News - Newsnight - Why are there not more Asian players in English cricket?

Amjad Aziz is talking out his arse there, he basically just said England don't select Asian cricketers because England think they wont be good enough because they're Asian. Utter tripe that argument, I'd guess its got alot more to do with the fact that these "Asian leagues" (as the film puts it) aren't affiliated with the ECB and Counties more than anything due to them not meeting the correct criteria.

British Asians playing county championship was 27 out of 354, which is about right, that's what, 8%. British Asians make up 4% of the population.

Yeah, it's rubbish, straw-clenching, etc and as Themer points out, many of these leagues don't meet ECB criteria.

Absolute tripe.

It's a ridiculously loaded question to ask whether ECB officials would show up to random park cricket matches. In between the editorialising, what's being indicated there is that whether they're good or not, the players themselves take a social attitude. I'm not sure it's fair to say the ECB has to personally tell these players that they could take it more seriously. Initiative is a key aspect of a good player.

In Australia, particularly with younger migrant communities, the thinking is that it is much more to do with the traditional values and parental attitudes than the establishment. There are plenty of subcontinental youngsters, but then they have to grow up and much of the talent is lost. Traditionally there's a very big focus on education and while there are obviously cricket heroes from the subcontinent, there just don't seem to be as many parents who really think their kids could become one.

what a load of crap that was. I find it especially bemusing when the 2nd player interviewed asks " are you telling me there is no other asian player in thw whole of the system good enough to play with the england team". well no there isn't. You've got Ravi Bopara who was a few short years ago an England regular but has been dropped in recent years due to poor performances. Samit Patel, Adil Rashid and Ajmal Shazhad are talented cricketers and are very good county players but to suggest they replace the current players? not a chance. As for players in that league being good enough to play at the top level? no-one playing on that kind of ground is that good. I play in a league that is a much better standard of cricket and very few of the players are good enough, its mainly the younger players that do. There's even a practically all-asian team, Batley CC who are very good cricketers but if you asked them they would tell you there not good enough. as sureshot said it's just straw-clenching.

Jos Charles Buttler, what a talent!!! Its about time the selectors realize he's the next big thing in ODI's for England regarding the finisher's role. Poor David Payne totally got wasted there at the death. Btw, is James Fuller an overseas player for the Gloucs? Looks a good prospect too.

Gloucestershire sign young New Zealand bowler | Cricket News | County Cricket 2010 | ESPN Cricinfo

Gloucestershire have signed James Fuller, a 20-year-old pace bowler from New Zealand, on a three-year contact.

Fuller plays for Otago but was born in South Africa and holds a British passport which means he doesn't qualify as an overseas player. He has also been part of the New Zealand Under-19 team and joined a full training squad in 2010. John Bracewell, the former New Zealand player and coach, is currently in charge at Gloucestershire and links between the two are strong.

T20 finals day should be good. Don't get Paul Nixon talking about Leicestershire having experience of a few players winning it though, when Hampshire have a full team with that very same experience!

Let's hope England sends two quality sides to the CLT20 in India. In other words, lets hope the Foxes don't make the final. No offence meant.

Having seen this much amount of turn in the pitch, I can but see only one winner in Hampshire now, especially with the terror trio they boast in Briggs-Afridi-Tahir.
