Who is your county team?

A lot depends on Trescothick, obviously Somerset aren't a one man team, but you can't discount the amount he gives to the side.

I think both semis will be exceptional.

Managed to catch some of that CB40 game on tv over here, I was quite surprised by the standard of bowling really, bar Onions (although Surrey did have most of their first choice bowlers unavailable). Is that quite normal in those 40 over games for teams to be making scores like that? 320 vs 280 is just crazy.

Yesterday was just one of those days where the pitch played batsmen friendly. The scores on an average basis have all been pretty sportive (neither batsmen nor bowler friendly). These are the results of a certain round that I posted a couple of months back:

Say it's more pitch than anything (and one boundary was under 60 yards!)

As you can see, bowlers have done okay. That's just the Oval, but there have been other high scores this season, 40 overs encourages it, it's more like an extended T20 than a 50 over imo, I really like the format.

Highest total this season is 399, but that was against the worst attack in the country.

Group A: Sussex v Worcestershire at Horsham, Aug 14, 2011 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

14 sixes in the innings...

There has been quite a few innings going at over 7 an over.

Bairstow continues to make a strong case to be the back-up test keeper on the upcoming winter tours.

Yeah, I saw that boundary was very short! What do you english fans reckon of Hamilton-Brown?? He looks like a good talent but he kind of rubbed me the wrong way, why on earth did he open the bowling with himself??

Also this schedule Leicestershire have had has been pretty tough, they've hardly had anytime to celebrate their t20 win. Played India on Monday and then getting smashed by Middlesex on the Tuesday.

RHB is a talented player, but be surprised if he ever plays for England. Don't really like him due to the whole Sussex thing :p

Strauss scores his first ever double century as Middlesex are currently 429-1 against Leicestershire. Ouch.

I'd wager he will play for England to be honest at some stage, limited overs only of course. Unless he can majorly reign in his attacking mentality.

It's a tactic Surrey have used a lot on CB40 cricket, gets a couple of overs out the way. I have seen it work both ways, he can do it really well but he can also do it terribly.

Disappointing with Kieswetter and Buttler away for today too. Seems like Compton is injured or something too. Our season hinges on Sunday basically. I think we're going to need something special to see off Durham and get to the final.

Championship seems to be over for us now. Time to take stock and go again next year. Hope to see Gregory get a go in the last CC game if he's fit enough.

Ouch.

Add to that the unavailability of Tresco, Kieswetter, Buttler & Pollard for Somerset's CLT20 campaign courtesy of stress [Tresco], International t20s [Kieswetter & Buttler] against the Windies, and Mumbai Indians getting the nod ahead of us for Pollard. Hope all goes well on Sunday, for that's the only hope of bagging a silverware this season.
