What does this year's county performances mean for ENGs winter tours
Well congrats to my home county for winning the county championship, its been long overdue although i dont think any Lancashire play as yet is ready for a national call-up although Moores has pushed a case for Kerrigan recently.
For the test side, well i guess Panesar's good division 1 performance has secured him a place for the test squad to Pakistan.
Alex Hales averages 51, Steven Moore 40 and Carberry with 56 (although he missed half the season) en route to scoring a triple century will also keep the pressure on Strauss as back-up openers.
James Taylor IMO has the back-up batsman spot secured for the test side, although Bopara got the nod in the recent tests vs IND mainly due to fact that he can bowl a bit.
Hildreth another option didn't have the best of seasons averaging 38, although his 186 in the final county game was quality knock, which im sure someone of the selection panel noted.
Bairstow also had leapfrogged over Davies and Kieswetter as the back-up test keeper to Prior, based on his batting this season i'd say.
For the ODIs of course as many have already noted, Buttler looks like the dynamic late order slogger than ENG have been seeking since Flintoff retired & the potential overall balance of the ODI set-up looks extremely encouraging.
