English premier league. Oh dear.

Don't blame the IPL or the BCCI or India or the Asian Bloc or anyone else, people are reacting to the demand for T20.

Also that, please don't mess up the old county cricket.

Meh, as long as 4 day and Test cricket in England stays healthy i'll be fine. At least the teams are proper counties and not pathetic brands like in the IPL. How silly are the names in the Indian league? They hardly reek of proffesionalism now do they?

Yeah i'll quote this because it's true. It isn't India's fault that we've followed suit on their money grubbing pathetic form of cricket. Not that T20 is pathetic, just the tacky glamorisation that it's undergone in India.

I'm not sure why we have 2 T20 competitions. Who of the two winners gets the tag of "best T20 side in the country"?

As Nasser said on Sky. "Why fix something that isn't broken?"

It will either work, or it will fall flat on it's arse.

This is a real joke. 1 twenty20 comp is more then enough. I was hoping it would be scraped maybe after the next season but now theres 2 to try and get rid of

IPL is the root cause but it can not be held fully liable for such stupidity. Two T20 competitions with the the same teams. I would have at least thought there would be English franchises but this is almost the height of stupidity.

England's domestic T20 competition is exciting as it is and draws good crowds. The IPL needs to be shortened and rather than creating such franchises, we should encourage the minnows to play T20 cricket as this is where their best chances of winning or challenging a Test team lies. They think it will increase the popularity of cricket with such tournaments but really, if even the real cricket fans do not watch such tournaments, then you can't expect them to and be fascinated. They have to be a part of it for the popularity to actually spread.

My cricket coach :p oh and leicestershire cheif exec, has now said the IPL winners and stanford winners will play in the 2 extra slots. He also said "What the ECB are looking to do is have a pool of round about 30 or 40 overseas players that will be contracted to them and they will be drafted. "

Oh my god, I was going to quote Nasser Hussain when I posted lol. He is right though, why do we need 2 T20 comps. It's not broke, so why the 2nd? It's clear it won't work, look at the feedback. If it changes the CC I will be seriously annoyed.

Simply put, ECB is miffed that them darkies are making a go of prime time cricket, and seem to be succeeding (although the next season will be the real test... lets see if anyone comes back when the novelty has worn off). They've always been looking for the best path to the ad revenue trough, and are now scrambling down the road paved by the IPL. The reason they got 2 T20 series is because ECB understands ad revenue like a 4 year old understands volume. A wide and shallow pond has more water than a small and deep one.

The Stanford winners? So that could be England in the EPL then? That will work...

I think someone was telling you porkies, Joe ;)

I think he meant the winner of the Stanford T20 - the West Indian domestic competition.

(again, don't shoot me:p)

Ah, now that makes sense.

That's the second time I haven't shot you, third time lucky? ;)
