That was a terrific all-round exhibition of acquisitions by Samit Patel. Our bowling unit delivered some excellent pacey bowls and the two spinners Afridi and Patel bowled beautifully to restrict them to a gettable total. Initially thought that It would be a easy chase but no, I was wrong. Opening partnership was indeed great but Lumb and Duminy's hapless performances made the chase tough. But then Samit and Davies came to our rescue and the quick-fire Afridi-Patel partnership ensured a nail-biting chase.

That's more like it. Smith and AB played well after we lost Tendulkar early on and the rest of the guys batted well to get to 260-ish on a normal track. Bowlers were fantastic barring Ajmal. I hope he finds his form soon.

That is a massive relief more than anything else; Trott played a fantastic knock and was well supported by Colly & the others did enough to get us through. Good stuff from the bowlers, for the first time Tremlett has done quite fine. It's tough to make the playoffs now, but we can do it and hope we do it. This will be the last time we'd be seeing Ponting.

We really are unstoppable on normal surfaces, innit?

Quality bowling up first, restricting our opponents to an extremely doable total, before our top order barring Kiesy (who finally fails) paved the path clear for Buttler to finally showcase his talent with the bat. Joe Root has been a miserable failure in the official matches though, which's a shame considering he looked pretty impressive during the warmups.

Hmm we havent really dominated this season and today we let them have a bit too many runs and not enough acceleration. morgans form ensures a promotion at the top and Kallis might be out for a while now

Looks like we missed a chance to move into the top four, and it was a game we should of won as well. Probably needed to score more runs, most of the bowlers did well considering the total. Stokes' all-round performance is a positive though, he's been really handy with the ball.

Good job.

A really professional performance was on display today that we've been missing most part of the season.
All the batsmen were amongst the runs which is a sign of a settled unit though we'e have liked it to happen a bit earlier.
The difference-maker was the bowling though,the skipper's rather poor season continued but the rest chipped in with some well disciplined bowling which was just about enough to keep Manchester at bay.
