Europa League Thread

But Benfica's presence in the final would have made it the best Europa League final after a long time . The last classy final that I can remember off , was the match between Espanyol and Sevilla in 2007 .

Anyone here up for the Europa League final between FC Porto and Sporting Braga later tonight?

Going for Porto to win 3-1. :)

It had to be Falcao, didn't it? Congrats to Porto and Andre Villas Boas. :clap

Slightly disappointed that the game was a bit cagey but overall, it was a decent game to watch. I think Porto deserved to win the Europa League as they have been the best side in the competition this season.

"I admire the style of play that Guardiola plays with Barcelona and the methodology behind it."
It's why comparisons with Jose are a bit cliched. Villas-Boas is more of a hybrid in the style of play he engineers.

Yep. Win this and then play Barca/Madrid in the Super cup. That would be awesome. :p
Also, Ferguson as a manager has played 4 and drawn 4 in the UEFA Cup/Europa League.

Oh and just realized that if it were not for the Uefa Fairplay rules or the Carling Cup, Liverpool would have been playing this as well. :facepalm
I could swear this thread would have been busier than any other football thread in that case. :p

FC Salzburg/Metalist Kharkiv v Rubin Kazan/Olympiakos
Legia Warsaw/Sporting Lisbon v Porto/Manchester City
Steaua Bucharest/FC Twente v Viktoria Plzen/Schalke
Wisla Krakow/Standard Liege v Hannover/Club Brugge
Stoke/Valencia v Trabzonspor/PSV Eindhoven
AZ Alkmaar/Anderlecht v Udinese/PAOK
Lazio/Atletico Madrid v SC Braga/Besiktas
Ajax/Manchester United v Lokomotiv Moscow/Athletic Bilbao

Don't forget Stoke vs Valencia as well. That should be fun.

And want to see United face Bilbao in the quarter final. That would surely be an intriguing one. :D
