From Legend to God - The Ian Wotton Story
The Hero Wielding the Willow...
The Wonder from Down Under...
The Friday Night Delight...
Just some of the "terrific names" the local media has come up for me, I feel like a heavyweight boxer when he’s entering the ring... all of the expectations of my teammates, fans and the media alike sure do create a lot of stress for a person who’s cricketing career begun by using oven mitts to catch potatoes during dinner time, after all I’m just a 20 year old who wants to make the most of his life and enjoy it.
So as you might have guessed from the previous paragraph I’m a cricketer, I currently play for the same team I debuted for 3 seasons ago “The Southern Sharks”. I really feel that this team is going places, our coach is focused on the task at hand and ever since my mate Greg Mbeki took over the captaincy we have lost only 4 games in 32 matches. I must admit we have a tough period ahead with many of our team’s fiercest rivals coming up in the next 2 weeks but I feel my form has returned at the right time of year.
It has been a massive journey since Doug Bennett and I grew up and dominated our local junior cricket competition, talent scouts separated us but we remain great mates. Doug is dominating his Division 6 competition and I seem to be doing the same in my Division 5 comp but we remain peaceful roommates still, he was a better batsman than me for a long period of time but his concentration has let him down.
Who would have thought a local kid who was born in the same town as Michael Bevan would grow up and have his own cricinfo profile, it remains as one of my proudest moments of my career which I hope still has upwards of 10 years left.
