I've got a few handy youths up for sale if anyone is interested. Will probably keep them if they don't sell. Squad's at 20 players now and I thought I should start trying to trim down before it starts affecting my training efficiency.

Iridium XI won by 130 runs

Well, my little experiment with van Dalen up at 3 didn't work. Out for 6 from 4. Unbeaten 4th wicket partnership between Thirunarayan and Skepple of 126 took us to 223/3.

Bowled opposition out for 93. All my bowlers took 2 wickets each. Nothing too tricky.

Allan has turned into an extremely aggressive opener, and has consistently score huge amounts since coming into my side (he score 250 odd on debut for me). Mangan though was amazing. He's still 18, but is one of my most talented youngsters. Lindeman was pretty good for the brief time he was at the crease, but was overshadowed by Mangan.

Buijs, my new bowler who I only got yesterday was smashed around a bit but took one wicket. Angara, Kapini and Doctrove were pretty amazing though. Very economical and took wickets. And none of them are in my first XI either :/

What a match!!!

Bowling first on an uneven pitch, they completely dominated to the first 13 overs at 114/0. A double strike from LeBron James brought things back to 116/2 after 14. Kentwell also took 2 wickets but they managed 176/4, a very unlikely total to chase.

Our chances seemed slim at 5/0 after 2 overs before Mol was dismissed for 2 just after Byrne hit a six. So we were 15/1 after 3. Byrne completely took apart the opposition bowlers with 46 from 33 with 2 sixes and 4 fours and Miller brought his fifty up with a six and after 14 overs, we were 110/2, 6 runs behind where they were at this stage. So Miller was on 54* off 39 and O'Leary 2* off 3. Now it seemed impossible by the end of the 17th over at 137/2, requiring 40 from 3.

The normally aggressive O'Leary and future NAT prospect after playing U19 Nat wasn't in the best form this match with only 15* off 12 but made his slow stay worthwile hitting a six before he got out next ball for 21 off 14. The big wicket of Miller fell for 68 off 50 and now we were in a bit of trouble at 150/4 although 13 runs coming off that last over and Elgin 3* off 2 and Fiebig yet to face a ball.

So now the 19th over.

1st ball: Fiebig hits a boundary first ball to get off the mark.
2nd ball: A single to take Fiebig to 5* off 2.
3rd ball: Elgin gives us a better chance with another boundary.
4th ball: The ever reliable Elgin falls for 7* off 4. 18 required from 8 balls.
5th ball: Great fielding saves a boundary first ball from Oldroyd but he gets through for the single.
6th ball: Fiebig with another boundary to make it 14 off the over.

So it was 164/5 after 19 overs, requiring 13 from the last over to win, Fiebig 9* off 3 and Oldroyd 1* off 1. Oldroyd was giving us a chance at the match with 3 2's to make it 7 off 3 balls. A single then put Fiebig on strike with 6 required off 2. Fiebig was the man of the moment and hit a boundary to move to 13* off 4. 2 runs needed off the last ball. Smashed back down the ground by Fiebig. Nearly hits Oldroyd who dived out of the way and the batsman run through for the needed 2 to win with no balls remaining and 5 wickets in hand.

Some of the great moments:

13.1 W James to Webber : [catch] Terrific ball that moved away just a touch from Webber, drawn forward into a drive, and it took a thin outside edge to a diving Oldroyd behind the stumps.
R. Webber c M. Oldroyd b. L. James 45 (33b 4x4 0x6) SR:136.36

13.6 W James to Chande : Chande's come down the track and tried to send that long, he hasn't quite got onto it but it's flying high... What a catch! Mol just flings himself at the ball and takes an absolute cracker!
B. Chande c R. Mol b. L. James 1 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR:25.00

2.2 6 Guthrie to Byrne : Shot! Arches his back and flays a short ball ferociously over deep backward point for six!

6.5 6 Rayudu to Byrne : Nailed it. Yep - that's gone! A big, thumping strike over long-on. He just stood, swung and the ball sailed for six, several rows back.

13.6 6 Rayudu to Miller : An old-fashioned slog back over mid-on's head for six.
That is 50 runs for Miller (54 runs, 39b 0x4 1x6) SR:138.46

18.1 4 Hart to Fiebig : Poor ball that just sits up begging to be spanked. Fiebig duly obliges with a brutal drive to the fence.

18.6 4 Hart to Fiebig : Fiebig walks outside off and plays a fine paddle scoop.

19.5 4 Eswara to Fiebig : Four runs. That went straight off the meat of the bat. An excellent cover drive by Fiebig

19.6 2 Eswara to Fiebig : Belted back down the ground by Fiebig, Oldroyd dives out of the way and they pick up 2

End of over 20 (13 runs) - Hedger's Team(177-5) RR 8.85
J. Fiebig 15 (5b), M. Oldroyd 8 (5b) , G. Eswara 4-0-36-2

That was the win I needed. The top of the table clash just comes out in my favour now tied at the top on 24 points, both having lost twice. Also got revenge as he beat me first match this season. He has a NRR of +1.4569, I have a NRR of +1.3983. Nowrah CC and Tassie Tonkers are below us on 20 points each and below us in NRR.

Well you only conceded 202. In my first match, I gave away 233. :p

I was looking at my T20 league table, and I've worked out that I cannot finish 1st and could very well miss out on 2nd. Here's the top 3 now:

1 Chewie CC [P8 W8 L0 32pts +6.3700]
2 Central Thunderbirds [P8 W7 L1 28pts +3.8671]
3 Iridium XI [P8 W5 L3 20pts +3.1279]

Long story short, if I don't beat Chewie, I'll more than likely finish third, ending 4 points behind Central (if everything goes how I imagine they will go). If I beat Chewie (unlikely) then Central and I will be tied on 44 points, but I imagine my NRR will be higher. I suppose the only reason to come higher on the table would be the prize money. The difference is marginal but still....

You know, I could throw my match against you so you come second...

^what?

I think I use too many bowlers, I am always scared if the bowler I'm bowling 4 overs will fail badly.:p

I don't even have a player with a rating over 40k. :p

That has to be the first time I've seen someone use more than 5 bowlers in their attack. :laugh But your opposition did well to get so close considering how much higher your match rating was.
