Same story.

Twenty20 4.1

Liverpool Lightnings 237-2 (20 overs) beat Girl on Girl Appreciation 75-10 (12 overs) by 162 runs.

Visvakarman scored his second successive century in T20s racking up a 59-ball 110. Berty meanwhile made his first real contribution in a Liverpool jersey in his unbeaten 36-ball 74. Aamer Hussain starred with the ball (not really), finishing with figures of 4/29 off his 4 overs. Khoury nailed 3 wickets in an over to finish with 3/9 off his 2 overs.

Man of the match: Amlana Visvakarman (3 points), Aamer Hussain (2), Aravinda Berty (1)

Well and truly guaranteed promotion to Division 3. :D

Youth 4.4

Liverpool Lightnings 355-5 (40 overs) beat vivazim 64-10 (20.1 overs) by 291 runs.

Trevor Sawu was unlucky to miss out on a 150, falling agonizingly short by one run in his 106-ball 149. Kenneth Hair found some form with the bat in his 42-ball 74 before Pomersbach played a nice little unbeaten cameo scoring 27 off 12 to leave us at 355-5 heading to the innings break. Then regarding our bowling, Pomersbach was on the wickets after a long while, finishing with 3/16 off his 6 overs.

Man of the match: Trevor Sawu (3 points), Kenneth Hair (2), William Pomersbach (1)

The win still has me reeling at fourth place, with the top 3 teams of my division all winning their respective games.

Very close match. Won on the final ball :p

End of over 20 (9 runs) - Hedger's Team(187-6) RR 9.35
A. O'Leary 71 (41b), C. Fitzgerald 3 (2b) , B. Paquette 4-0-40-2

This was the over that changed the game though.

17.1 2 Paquette to Yousif : Played wide of mid-wicket and they'll come back for 2.
17.2 1 Paquette to Yousif : Yousif flicks that comfortably off his pads for an easy single.
17.3 1 Paquette to O'Leary : O'Leary shuffles back and gets a delicate cut past the gully fieldsman. Fonseka steams around from third man and cuts off the boundary. An easy single in the end.
17.4 4 Paquette to Yousif : That delivery was short, wide and after that I lost track of its flight. A welcome boundary.
17.5 4 Paquette to Yousif : [misfield] Wonderful dive by Odinga. Pity he dived right over the ball.
17.6 4 Paquette to Yousif : Yousif has timed that cover drive to perfection - four runs!

Pettinger was another major contributor with 54 off 32. Healy and Whiteman bowled good spells of 1/28 and 0/21 respectively.

Just realised that Michael Young surpassed 2000 career youth runs last week, the first player in club history to do so.

Top youth run scorers: (* indicates still in youth squad)

1. Michael Young* - 2003 runs @ 69.07
2. Mahboob Farhat - 1660 runs @ 57.24
3. Basil Sleiman - 1543 runs @ 49.77
4. Kalhana Priyanka - 1454 runs @ 46.90
5. Ruben Mol* - 1380 runs @ 37.30
6. Mohammad Khan - 1189 runs @ 51.70
7. Bahuvata Chetan - 1068 runs @ 46.43
8. Victor Omara* - 1056 runs @ 48.00
9. Gavin Hele - 1028 runs @ 54.11
10. Bilal Khaleel - 952 runs @ 39.67

And while I'm at it. Top youth wicket takers.

1. Barry Healy* - 73 wickets @ 20.21
2. Frank Bollinger* - 64 wickets @ 13.09
3. Andrew Whiteman - 62 wickets @ 21.10
4. Aravinda Habeebullaah - 59 wickets @ 24.15 (lol, a Sri Lankan U19 international wrist spinner fired at 20 :facepalm)
5. David Gamble - 50 wickets @ 16.98
6. Ariyapala Baddewithana - 47 wickets @ 23.68
7. Agasti Reshma - 46 wickets @ 23.00
8. Mo Bol* - 45 wickets @ 28.07
9. Mason Reed - 41 wickets @ 32.88

And speaking of youth matches, I find it hard to believe that my most successful bowler, Graham Phillips never played a youth match. Late bloomer? :p

Buy some well-rated players. The transfer market the place to go.

Look for 22-28 year old players, reliable/accomplished in either of batting, bowling or keeping.

Try not spending anymore than 5k on most players, maybe pick up a better bowler for 10k, preferably a Fast, Fast Medium or Wrist spinner who would likely take a lot of wickets. Aim for reliable batting or bowling with capable+ technique. For keepers, try for about a capable batting with capable keeping or something around there with average+ fielding. Try not picking up players with below average endurance especially if they are older than 22 or 23. If they're like 20 or 21, then you can easily train them up a couple of levels. Fielding, always up to you. I'd try to stay away from anything below poor and preferably ordinary at least. Power is not overly important for new teams but always a bonus. Power doesn't make any difference for spin bowlers although if they are all-rounders, then power will help their batting. Experience, not overly important are rarely affects price as it is a secondary that many newbies don't take into account so if you can get some high experience players (reasonable+), then it will help.

What not to do, don't spend all of money and don't spend a heap on one player. In your low leagues, an accomplished primary would score 150 off 100 and guide you to a victory, while an outstanding player will score 200 off 100 and guide you to a victory but the extra money spent on the player + higher wages isn't worth it. I wouldn't bother putting any money in your youth academy at the start and I'll admit I never put anything in my senior academy either. Um, always make a pull each week and at this early stage in your career, I would sell any half-decent pulls as your academy is unlikely going to be good enough to turn them into a real star or be anywhere near your first team by the time they turn 20.

If you need any other help, feel free to ask.

Awesome Batting display by Yankees. Scored 494/6. Everyone in the top order contributed. 5 fifties and one hundred. Notable performances were Connor's 25 ball 60 Notout and Walsh's 102(66b).
Walsh had a great allround debut. After scoring a century he took 2/17 in his 5 overs. Another debutant Thambipillai got 5/35 and scored 26(13b).
In the end, Yankees won by 368 runs and all ten wickets were taken by spinners.
