With my life changing every day, I decided I wanted to write a diary so I can look back at it when I am old and smile. My parents said it would be a nice idea to write it on the internet. My family had just bought a connection so they can e-mail my brother who has moved to England. I said to them, ha, I will probably forget about it! They found a place for me to do it though and here I am.
I realised I have not told you who am I, whoever you are! My name is Arslaan Jamshed. I live in Karachi and Pakistan. Man, there is some bad stuff happening here, but I am proud to be a Pakistani! I live in a small house with my mother and my father. I have one brother, he is Sohail Jamshed. He moved to England to study medicine. My parents are proud of him and spent their last penny on helping him go there.
This is not why I am writing though, none of it is. The interesting thing about me is that I play cricket, profesionally. I do not get paid a lot and I am only contracted for one year, but it was my dream to do this and I am delighted to be doing it. I had to convince my parents I was doing the right thing. They were trying to send me to England with Sohail. I said, I do not want to! I am going to play for Pakistan in cricket! They said I was crazy, but Sohail has always been behind me and he convinced my father to come and watch my first match! I cried with happiness when I scored 122 in a first class match while he was watching! It was then he said I had potential and he wanted me to keep playing for the Karachi Blues.
What I want to do is keep playing well for the Karachi Blues and make it into the squad for Pakistan! I can be the next hero! They are playing against our bitter rivals India at the end of this year but I think it is too early for me to get in. I am hoping to set my sights on the next series, but the PCB have not told us who it is going to be against yet and when. I hope you will read what I write with interest anyway!
