yes, i am aware it is a bit to shiny - this wont be hard to fix. I do plan on having shadows fall on other geometry, but not sure what i mean by the Doom3 shadows? Link...?
About the hats, it can actually appear that bright under a bright intense sun...check out some real pix...but i am going to reduce the shine/brightness anyways.
