General Cricket Discussion

They had a story on it in Cricket Company after the earthquake, but before the earthquake I would have guessed that it was in Wellington.

I wonder who would captain Lankans. Mathew seems to be a good choice. He is got a real good head on his shoulders.

^ Murali, Tikolo, Akhtar, Davison, and Tait from ODIs. I think I'm missing a few.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this. May affect his performance. He's already one of their best batsman and bowler. Adding captaincy on top of that might be too much for one so young.

I was thinking Thranga might be a good choice, but I don't know if he would be around until the next WC.

Samaraweera is pretty good but he needs to improve his one day game, or even Dilshan who is a permanent fixture in all three formats.

Speed book tells of Monkeygate 'collusion'

Another clear example of why the ICC needs to become a proper independent body with real authority. So that India's influence along with other major boards can be controlled.

Its surprising with those views you aren't going crazy after Ireland vs ICC. If Ireland takes ICC to court and wins (tiny chance I know), it'll set a precent in cricketing laws which even BCCI couldn't influence. Moreover if Ireland becomes a full member, BCCI's voting power will be diminished. I don't know if there's any other way to take power away from BCCI.

Ye it would for sure.

The only way to take power from the BCCI is that all the heads 10 major boards (and associate boards) need to go to the ICC & make it stronger. Since the President & CEO in the ICC are just names - they have no power

The problem is, the heads of the boards meet as the ICC and agree on a direction for the game, and then promptly head off and act in the best interest of the individual board they represent. It's as if they gather in the huddle as a tight-knit group before the match and then instead of dispersing to perform as a cricket team, they play a game of tug-of-war.

So what basically has to happen is that the esponsibilities of decision making that the ICC CHIEF EXECUTIVES' COMMITTEE (10 national boards) has needs to be redirected to the ICC EXECUTIVE BOARD & IDI BOARD OF DIRECTORS (President & CEO) - as it is in football & other sporting governing bodies.

I don't think the bat/player grounded rule makes any sense. Once you ground your bat you are in. What happens if the player after making his ground jumps and the bails are off? Is he out too?" I think the MCC is changing the rules to say that the batsman is safe once he has made his ground, even if the bat pops up in the air
Just saw this in cricinfo, which was posted as a quote from an editor in a commentary.
Your opinion please:).

IMO, this rule should be implemented due to the fact being that the batsman has given his efforts to reach in the crease before the ball has disturbed the stumps:yes.
