General Cricket Discussion

Longevity as a whole seems terribly underrated and neglected when people talk about the best players as a lot focus on averages alone when the overall figures should also receive merit.
This is the best thing I've read. Exactly the thing I don't understand amongst the newer generation fans. They look at the player and say that he played so many matches so anyone would get there but this is not a thing that matters. The players get to play for longer duration because of the fitness levels they maintain and because of how good they are when they play.

My point wasn't about how long they played but my point was about the impact these guys create. Anderson is always one of the most difficult bowlers to face as a batsman but Steyn was one such bowler who was unplayable at his best and that is why I rate him higher. Anderson was and has always been consistent in the last decade or so but when you see Broad literally running through a batting order and turning the match in minutes then you probably feel like not rating the former higher than the latter. But when you see a guy like Steyn he probably did both things together. He was always consistent throughout his career and also he would run through a batting line-up all alone. And his Captains had so much trust on him that they probably wouldn't bowl anyone ahead of Steyn. And that is why I feel he is better. I would also want to have someone like Morne Morkel on that list probably because he always dried the other end constantly beating the edge of the bat and I believe it is never easy to bowl like him. So he deserves credit not only for bowling well but helping his partner Steyn to a much more extent that it seemed.

That was some amazing stuff!
It’s an old video right? I swear I have seen that guy before. Except the fact that there is some visible arm-bend in his action, he looks difficult to bat against :p

Yes it is an old video. Btw I was thinking why not play him in the Indian side on the rank turners and see him break Ashwin's fastest to 350 wickets. :lol :lol :lol

Oh boy! How slow is that? The batsman can have a cup of coffee, come back and still have time to decide his shot.

I felt that was probably when of the most difficult balls to bowl as a bowler and play as the batsman. It was so slow that even when you know what shot you need to play you would still end up mistiming it. Probably suits T20 Cricket.

Do you know?

Rangana Herath's full name is "Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara Herath"

Of all the domestic players , what England pick is Mark Wood !! He's just a bowling machine TBH . Only has pace , just bowls , and no talent . DONE !!!!

Do they have such poor pool of bowlers in domestic , that replacing Wood seems a difficult job ? Shit... :facepalm
