They never earn money from Asia Cup. They donate it to smaller Asian countries.

BCCI could easily do a tri series against South Africa and Australia at home to fill in stadiums and earn revenue.

I would love to see that happen, but since we already have a series scheduled with Australia and SA this year, I don't think that will happen.

We really need big tri-series to come back. I remember in I think it was the 2011-12 summer and Australia had India and Sri Lanka for a 12 match tri-series which than followed by a best of 3 finals played between the top 2 sides. One of my favourite ever series when I was growing up because there was so much high quality cricket nearly every 2nd day. This series was also the birth of Virat Kohli as the ODI chase king with his brutal 133* to chase down Sri Lankas 320 in just 37 overs.

Could you imagine a 12 match ODI tri-series between India, England and Australia now. Would be absolute theatre.
But even one between NZ, South Africa and Pakistan would be so good to watch. Shame T20 has just ruined those type of series from every coming about again.

Agree! I see boards busy scheduling 5 match T20 series with 2-3 gaps in between. Absolute bollocks! If you want T20, just give a day's gap. I still remember the first ever WT20 had both semi finals on the same day.

I would be quite happy for either of the Big 3 boards to take the step towards a tri-series. You've rightly pointed out- Cricket Australia, who used to have their summer block buster tri-nation. In the 1990s, they had a quadrangular as well. England too had their mini tri-nation (Australia used to have 4 round robins, England had only 2). In fact, even the like of South Africa and West Indies indulged in hosting tri-nations. Would be nice to have them back for a change.
