General Cricket Discussion

So, it begins again! just scrap the tournament- such a mess it is. They held it last in 2017 and prior to that in 2013. There's no consistency in the same. No wonder the ICC has lost one of its prime sponsors days before the mega event in the USA.

This madness of conducting an event every year needs to stop. It is becoming an overkill. If they really want an event every year, just conduct a Club World Cup or something similar to UEFA. But, for the love f the game, don't mess around with international events.

If the CT has to remain in their FTP, they need to decide now whether they want it , what format, and who will play. Whether this has direct qualification consequences etc. all this needs to be frozen in for atleast 1 full tv rights cycle for the ICC to even attract more sponsors. My personal take on this being- scrap it and conduct a 50 over Knockout (precursor to the CT) or have a Club World Cup. (franchisees UEFA sorta format)

I'd prefer if the Champions Trophy was like the abandoned Super League.

Two groups that play each other in bilateral (or tri-series) in a format like the World League. Then maybe you have the top five go to the finals which could just be a 5-team knockout.

With the WTC now in the calendar, albeit the final being only a week, it feels having five world tournaments in four years is ridiculous. Hell, give us a three week WTC knockout instead.

Can we please fix the pitches, am sick of 3 day Tests and the bowling stats are becoming warped.
Why are Ashwin and Jadeja so good? Rubbish pitches...even Travis Head can take 4-10 on that, Joe Root 5-9, learn to bowl.

Yeah, let’s go back to the roads of the 2000s. Boy do I love watching teams score 500 after 500 for five days without any meaningful result at the end!

This is not useful content in the slightest, but I had an idea: what if I had to select Test teams all round the world in the style of the late 2000s Kiwis? To help myself, those requirements will be:
  1. Five players who are just generally the best players available
  2. Two players who are older than 30 and are uncapped at international level
  3. Two players who have a first-class batting average under 35, and bowling average over 35 (or no career wickets)
  4. Two players from outside those categories who were born outside the country they are representing
I will be picking my way through those rules in order too. Let's see if the vibes check out.
  1. :aus: :bat: Usman Khawaja (Rule 1)
  2. :aus: :bat: Jake Fraser-McGurk (Rule 3)
  3. :aus: :bat: Steve Smith (Rule 1)

I'll probably edit some more into here as I come up with them, but I'm happy for others to take over the job at least a little bit.

Zak Crawley (Rule 1)
Fixed it
