Story Go Tigers Go - A Bangladesh Story! | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Thanks mate.I'll try my best to make this as good as I can.I had first looked around certain stories and then started this.I was kinda inspired by your England story,Pakistani_Army's story and surender's Indian story.Btw,which story are you talking about?Could you link it to me please?I might get some ideas as well.

Inspired by my story? Well that must be a first :p

Here is James' story on ICC. His writing is exceptional, even if I did need to be his spell/word checker. http://www.planetcricket.org/forums...egin-blissful-age-india-bangladesh-49307.html

I don't think you've said this, which game are you playing this story with?

EDIT: Also, take a look in the Hall of Fame thread and read GamerKid's England story. It's up there with Suren's as one of the best stories ever.

Ah maybe, but that is a good one.

Cricket 07.
Also, take a look in the Hall of Fame thread and read GamerKid's England story. It's up there with Suren's as one of the best stories ever.
Thanks,I'll sure have a look.

Let's hope you can portray Cricket 07 as a good game, because it certainly isn't. Probably the worst cricket game I have ever played on, much prefer 2004 and 2005 (2004 is the best in my opinion). Anyway, look forward to the first match and good luck.

Thanks again.I don't have Cricket 2004.I decided to go with 05 first but as there aren't current downloads for that game so I had trouble with it.Cricket 07 has the downloads and I have tried some AI patches on it.I'll test it fully before beginning this.

Yes, this story has been superb so far and it's good to see a story on Bangladesh. Hopefully you can keep it going well for a long time.

Yes man.. his uuse of graphics is really good

Bangladesh Vs. Srilanka -Preview

Bangladesh have, time and again, proved they are better than other minnow cricket teams in world (beating Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ireland frequently) but when it comes to challenging major teams, Bangladeshi boys are still a step behind, winning only 11 out of 137 ODIs against 8 teams ranked above them.

Bangla fans may argue their team haven't been given enough opportunity since becoming 9th test team in year 2000 but now, they can't complain as Bangladesh play non-stop cricket in 2010, starting with a triseries at home.

Sadly, Mashrafe Mortaza has been ruled out once again after being named as the captain of the side but failing the fitness test. Shakib Al Hasan has been lucky for Bangladesh as skipper, winning test series and ODI series against second string West Indies as well as at home against Zimbabwe, and he'll look to continue his allround abilities to win more games for his country.

Sri Lanka will be home team's opposition in first match of Idea cup triseries.Sri Lankan cricketers have just finished a grueling tour of India where they lost test series 0-2 and ODI series 1-3 despite being highly competitive, will hope for a better start to new year.

Sri Lanka side is without several of their main players (Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Angelo Mathews), giving International exposure to likes of less known players Thissara Perera and Suranga Lakmal.Suraj Randiv, a talented off-sppiner,has been given opportunity to start his career and he'll look up to this match one of Bangladesh triseries as a begining of his own.Malinga Bandara, a leg spinner, is also in the squad and a name to watch out for.

Playing XIs
Bangladesh (probable) : Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Raqibul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Syed Rasel and Shafiul Islam.

Sri Lanka (probable) : Upul Tharanga, Tillakaratane Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Thilan Samarweera, Thilan Kandamby, Mahela Jayawardene, Thissara Perera, Thilan Thushara, Suraj Randiv, Malinga Bandara and Chanaka Welegedera.

Match start time
A day-night one day international, to start at 2.30pm local Bangladesh time which turns into 2pm India and Sri Lanka time = 8pm Sydney in Australia = 8.30am UK = 3.30am New York in USA = 12.30pm Middle East.

Watch Live
Neo cricket sports channel in India, Zeesports in USA, Supersport in Africa, ATN's CBN in Canada while star hub in Singapore and Malaysia will broadcast this Bangladesh triseries. Doordarshan will show only India's matches.

Head to head
26 Sri Lanka v Bangladesh one day matches so far, Bangladesh have won only 2, Sri Lanka 24. Both those wins for Bangla team have come at home, from 7 games, losing remaining 5.

Quotes
"It (injury to experienced players) has brought some youthful enthusiasm to the team and we are looking forward to see how they develop over the coming month and years".. Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss is loving chance to groom young lads, like most coaches do around the world.

"It is a good opportunity for us to show that we are an improving side and playing good cricket against the giants.".. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is exited before the home triseries.

:Hello and welcome to 'The Cricket Show' exclusively for Idea cup tri-series 2010 with me Sanjay Manjrekar. Its the first match heading your way between Bangladesh and Srilanka. We have a special guest with us Arun Lal with whom we will discuss about the upcoming encounter.Good Afternoon Arun!

15wmavp.jpg
:Good Afternoon Sanjay!Yeah,an exciting series coming ahead for us.It'll be interesting to see how Bangladesh go against a bit 'young' and 'inexperienced' Srilankans.

4vpekw.jpg
:That's a right point you mentioned Arun,'a young and inexperienced Srilankan line-up.'They have almost a complete new seam attack and they may miss star performers like Murali and Jayasuriya who can turn the match on their head.

15wmavp.jpg
:I was a bit surprised to see no Jayasuriya in the squad. He wasn't in the best of forms but how can you leave him out?He is a match-winner.

4vpekw.jpg
:Seems selectors want to try out youngsters in this series.Coming onto Bangladesh, they have a good bunch of cricketers and have won couple of series last year.Mortaza has missed out due to fitness and so Shakib will be leading them.

15wmavp.jpg
:Shakib has been the man for them.He has the potential to lead this side to victory and has the fire-power too.Players like Tamim Iqbal and Ashraful would be to watch out for. With return of players from ICL,it has strengthened the side.Aftab Ahmed and Shahriar Nafees are amongst them and would be interesting to see if they get a place in the XI.

4vpekw.jpg
:Yeah right Arun.Well,Ravi Shastri is ready in the centre with the pitch report.Let's go straight there...

2vua2ol.jpg

4vpekw.jpg
:That was the pitch report by Ravi Shastri. He mentioned about the dew factor over there.Your take on that?

15wmavp.jpg
:It's winter here and dew will certainly play an important role.Though they say groundsmen have put some chemical to reduce the effect of dew but in this part of the world it falls quite heavily.

4vpekw.jpg
:So,win the toss and bowl first?

15wmavp.jpg
:Yes,that will be the right choice.Chasing under lights can be a problem but when dew factor comes into play and spinners find it hard to grip the ball,it can certainly work in your favour.

4vpekw.jpg
:Till we get ready for the toss we've a certain section for the viewers called 'World-wide City sight-seeing.' Today we'll have a look at Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh.

Its fame attracted travelers from far and near throughout the ages. Outstanding among the monuments of the Lalbagh are the tomb of Pari Bibi , Lalbagh Mosque, Audience Hall and Hammam of Nawab Shaista Khan now housing a museum.

Ahsan Manzil Museum : On the bank of the river Buriganga in Dhaka the pink majestic Ahsan Manzil has been renovated and turned into a museum recently. It is an example of the nations rich cultural heritage. It was the home of the Nawab of Dhaka and a silent spectator to many events.
The renovated Ahsan Manzil is a monument of immense historical beauty. It has 31 rooms with a huge dome atop which can be seen from miles around. It now has 23 galleries displaying portraits, furniture and household articles and utensils used by the Nawab.

4vpekw.jpg
:That was phenomenon.Dhaka at its very best. We're ready for the toss now.Let's go down to Sunny Gavaskar who is with the two captains.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen,we are ready for the crucial toss. The two captains are here with me.Shakib Al Hasan for Bangladesh and Kumar Sangakkara for Srilanka.Sangakkara will spin the coin and Shakib to call.

cointoss.gif

5zpsu1.jpg
:Heads.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Well, heads was the call by the Bangladeshi captain and it is tails. So Srilanka have the toss and what have you decided Sanga?

2zfs4xw.jpg
:We'll have a bat Sunny.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Any particular reason for that decision?

2zfs4xw.jpg
:The pitch looks good to bat on really. We've heard about dew factor playing an important role but I think if we have runs on the board we can put the pressure on them.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Well,Good Luck!

2e0tqwk.jpg
:What would have you done, had you won the toss Shakib?

5zpsu1.jpg
:I would have bowled. We wanted to chase the target and considering the dew factor I think chasing would be easy.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Plans against any batsman?

5zpsu1.jpg
:Yeah,we have some plans against certain batsmen.Dilshan is in good form and we'd love to have him early.

2e0tqwk.jpg
:Good Luck and have a good one!

2e0tqwk.jpg
:So,the news from the centre is Srilanka have won the toss and they will bat first.

21eviid.jpg

4vpekw.jpg
:That was the toss.Arun,an interesting decision to bat first by Sangakkara?

15wmavp.jpg
:I'm surprised here.Maybe he is confident of his bowling attack and wants to set a target first.

4vpekw.jpg
:Both the captains got what they wanted.Let's have a look at the line-ups.

35icg46.png

4vpekw.jpg
:Your views on the teams?

15wmavp.jpg
:Srilankan line-up was expected to be like that.Interesting that Bangladesh haven't picked Aftab Ahmed and Shahriar Nafees.Instead they have gone in with Imrul Kayes who is inexperienced. They have also picked youngster Shafiul Islam over Shahadat Hossain.Let's see how it goes.

4vpekw.jpg
:Yeah, the players are taking the field.

2sah2k7.jpg

4vpekw.jpg
:Well Arun, who have you put your money on?

15wmavp.jpg
:Ha ha.Well its simple, isn't it?Srilanka have the upper-hand ofcourse. But,I would love to see Bangladesh pull-off something here.

4vpekw.jpg
:Well, that's it from 'The Cricket Show'.We'll be back in the mid-innings break. Thanks Arun for your thoughts.Catch the live action on Neo Cricket.

Brilliant update mate. It's great to see someone new to he forums reading and learning from the great stories that have been made in the past. So much rubbish gets churned out of here it's nice to have a new member produce quality like this.

Looking forward to the match, hopefully Bangladesh can cause an upset.

Great presentation mate!!!! .:happy... Good idea of inluding Tour Diary........:) ... Hope Bangladesh play well ..... good luck with your story.....:)
