Story Go Tigers Go - A Bangladesh Story! | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

It's fine for me as well. May be some sort of reports for the current matches. How many matches still to go in current series?

I have still got two matches which include Bangladesh. Then there's one with India and Srilanka. The final follows after that.

I am fine with it as well. Just post the cricinfo review sort of the thing for the remaining matches and then start t20 world cup.

Yep, so how about - Match summaries for the three group-round matches ( 1 update ) & finals ( 1 update ) & Bangla leaving to WestIndies for T20( 1 update )? :)

I was thinking something like this too. Today, I've got sometime to think about this. I might just do what you said. That way, I can start T20 WC maybe on the same day it actually starts.

Maybe not. Depends on when I get the roster from Biggy and when someone like Ahad makes T20 WC kits. But then, I think T20 WC is big enough to get some sort of a build up. Also, my speed is too slow.

Bangladesh Vs. Srilanka
ODI Match @ Sher-E-Bangla Stadium,Mirpur.

The Sangakkara way.

dcva5t.jpg

Skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and had no hesitation in opting to bat first. Losing Tharanga early, Kumar walked out to bat. It was all Sangakkara after that. Dilshan and Jayawardene played supporting roles to Sangakkara. Both made their fifty runs while Kumar went on and on. The stand-in captain for Bangladesh had no ideas as Sangakkara kept smacking the bowlers all over the park. He made 144 runs off just 123 deliveries in which over 100 runs were scored in boundaries. Team total reached 301 in 50 overs leaving a humongous task ahead of Bangladesh to keep their chances alive.

With Shakib Al Hasan not playing, the experts said it wasn't going to be easy for the Tigers. Tamim Iqbal and Nafees gave a good start to the Bangla side as they put on 52 runs quickly. Tamim looked in sublime touch. Nafees couldn't do much and same was the story with Aftab Ahmed and Ashraful. At one stage when Bangladesh were 92/3, it seemed all over. Mushfiqur Rahim was determined and supported Tamim who was going great guns. The duo added 159 runs for the 4th wicket but it was again 'so close yet so far' story for the Bangladeshis as they lost by a meager 11 runs.

Dilshan scoops India.

1zvabfm.jpg

Indian captain Dhoni won the toss and wanted to put runs on the board straightaway. Sehwag couldn't get going while Gambhir didn't capitalize on his start. Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh joined together to put up a solid partnership. Kohli was aggressive while Yuvraj looked out of sorts but still hung around. The Indians could well have fallen well short of the total they got had Dhoni not played a sensational innings. His innings of 72 runs in 39 balls helped India reached 269 in their alloted 50 overs.

With 270 runs to win, Srilanka couldn't have asked for a better start. Openers Tharanga and Dilshan put up a 114 runs for the first wicket. Tharanga fell short of his fifty by six runs as Sangakkara came out to bat. Both Sanga and Dilshan continued their brilliant form as both reached their half-centuries. Jayawardene and Sangakkara took Srilanka past the target with just over an over to spare. Dilshan made 79 runs off 84 deliveries.

Turbanator puts breaks on Bangladesh.

rw07s2.jpg

MS Dhoni won the toss yet again and again decided to bat. The match was more of a formality as Bangladesh were playing for their pride. Sehwag continued his poor form in the series. Kohli and Gambhir provided a solid platform for the lower middle order batsmen. Yuvraj missed out but Dhoni was in his own league. He along with Raina took India's score to 270 for the loss of 6 wickets.

Indian opening bowlers struck a double blow as both Bangladeshi openers were back in the hut. Aftab Ahmed and Ashraful strung together a very good partnership for the 3rd wicket. Then what followed was a collapse which Bangla team is familiar with. Harbhajan Singh ran through Bangladeshi middle-order as they wrapped up for 226 runs. This set up an exciting final between India and Srilanka.

Man of the match: H Singh

Picked up speed I see.
In SL Vs Ban, Sangakkara played a fantastic innings, but a fantastic fightback by Tamim and Rahim
Dhoni played a T20 innings against Sri Lanka although it didnt help much, Lankans led by Dilshan fought back and chased it in the end
Dhoni continued his form against Bangladesh, and Harbhajan made sure his effort didnt really go in vain with 4 important wickets

Idea Cup 2010 Final
India Vs. Srilanka
ODI Match @ Sher-E-Bangla Stadium,Mirpur.

Dilshan delivers yet again.

11kbjmb.jpg

With Srilankan team high on confidence and India playing good cricket as well, it all came down to the last match of the Idea Cup 2010, Final. Srilankan Skipper Kumar Sangakkara believed in theory of putting runs on the board and putting pressure on the opposition in the big matches. He chose to bat first at once. Zaheer Khan sent Tharanga back as he tried to play with an outswinging delivery and ended up being caught by Sehwag at the second slip. Tillakaratne Dilshan was in the form of his life. Sangakkara himself had struck a purple patch in the previous games. He came out with a devastating mood. He along with Samaraweera, Jayawardene, and Kandamby played little cameos and supported Dilshan as he got to his ton. Perera and Thushara gave the perfect sort of conclusion to the innings as Srilanka put a mammoth 342 runs on the board.

Indian openers Gambhir and Sehwag had to go after the bowling from the outset. That is what they did. They put up 127 runs for the first wicket. The pace of this partnership was slow as it took the 24 odd overs. The run-rate kept on mounting and wickets started to tumble. Every Indian batsman tried but didn't seem to middle the ball. Gambhir fell short of his century by 3 runs and it was left on Dhoni to guide the Indians home. It proved a bit too much in the end as Indians fell short of the target by 63 runs. Srilanka won the Idea Cup 2010 and Tillakaratne Dilshan was judged the Man of the Match and Man of the Series as well.
