If I use brushes/textures/renders from deviantart/planetcricket in any national competitions, is it compulsory to mention/credit/pay them all for it? Just asking because I'm 'bout to participate in an upcoming competitions, and I don't really remember all the sources of brushes and textures I have. A lot of them are freebies, and I cbf searching for their pages again and again to see which of them are.

you can play safe and accredit in a manner like "credits to the respective owners"

just like films.

ntl some people are just contrary to this, let them be hellbent. You should check what are freebies though.

Well, it depends.

While most of the textures/fonts/brushes are free to use in anything which isn't commercial, some of them can land you in trouble. It also depends on what you mean by 'National' competitions.

I'd suggest you avoid using them if the competition is being run by a company for its promotion or if it is being run by any government organization.

I guess it is a private organisation, so as Pranav, you said, I can't use some of them. I'll have to confirm if they are freebies then I guess. It will be hard task considering I've loads of them.

After having a look at the site, it doesn't seem to me that they will bother checking the authenticity of all artworks. To add to that, they're hardly giving you 8 grands for winning the entire thing - so it's far from something commercial. If I were you, I wouldn't be worried about the resources I use.

Though, if you want to play it entirely safe, just build your work from scratch.
