Can you tell me why can't i link layers in ADPSCS4?

That might be because of the Workspace.

Go to Window > Workspace > Basic.

You can modify as you wish later.

Hey KBC. I can't get renders in, because even if they are saved as PNG files, they come up with the white behind them. How can I fix this, or am I doing something wrong (not saving correctly, or something).

On CS2 if it counts for anything.

Keep only the layer of the render open, you need to switch off everything else to get the transperancy in the image. In that case, you might've left the background still open when you saved the .png.

Click the eye symbol/icon to the near left of the layers to turn off/on.

PS: This is not really a solution to your problem but if you can't figure out the cause, have you tried re installing photoshop?

I had the same problem which you are facing Meghraj click CTRL+R then your problem will be solved.

Anyway Meghraj, when you find a render, instead of copying it from the internet, save the image as a png and open it in photoshop.

Well, instead of digging the case on how it happened, Just take your magic wand tool and select the black parts, remove them.

This adds a little flexibility and decreases the complexity while working with things like renders, huge works.

Make a new document, and change the background contents To Transparent, So the Background layer always remains and starts transparent.

Paste the render and try again. Pick the magic wand tool over the areas you want to remove, everything won't go at one go.

Trust me, this happens for me aswell when I copy and paste a render, instead of copying and pasting the render, save the image as a png and then OPEN it in photoshop

Yeah, you have to save the image meghraj. Can't just copy-paste.
