Group C (Afghanistan, India, South Africa) - 12th Match Afghanistan v SA

The cricinfo title seems a bit misleading, wasn't that one sided. SA stuffed the chase big time though, after 10 overs that RRR has gone up by 4. Brilliant knock by Raina, he might be ready to kick on in all formats.

Cricinfo has lost it or something !? I think SA put enough fight in this match. It was pretty interesting till the end.

^ You might as well want to get in Gambhir for either Vijay or Karthik.

Why Vijay or Karthik? He will come in for Karthik, simple as that. Vijay is a specialist opener and scored a 48 in the first game. Why should he even be thought of to be dropped?

I'll drop Chawla for Zaheer Khan. A bowling attack without Zak is simply toothless.

SA got 172 when they shouldn't have even gotten close to 160. What if they were batting first, or if we hadn't gotten such a huge score. Our bowling was PATHETIC today, but it didn't look bad just because we had the runs on the board.

India needs to be cautious here. Bring in Zaheer (is he injured or something? Why the hell would he be left out in the first place) Drop Piyush. Drop Yuseless and keep KKD in the middle order for me.

I think Zaheer was rested. They said Gambhir had diarrhea but never mentioned a reason for Zaheer's absence. I think he was rested for India to go with a spin heavy attack

Excellent win for India! Should boost their confidence since they have beaten a top T20 team. This time, I think India will reach the semifinals with the kind of form the batters and the bowlers are in. I have that feeling we will make it there.

Raina the sheer class.:hpraise

In next match , Zaheer should come in place of Chawla and Gambhir in for Karthick.

SURESH RAINA. :hpraise

Oh my god, what a player he is. He started decently, attacked in the end, like a professional experienced cricketer. God bless him and hope his form continues throughout this tournament. He banged SA bowlers easily and made his 1st century in T20, which he couldn't achieve in IPL. Well supported by Yuvi.

Bowlers also did a good job, thanks to Yusuf, Chawla & Nehra and off course MS Dhoni's captaincy again. :clap

SA did a big mistake by giving just 1 over to spinner. Smith could have been used Duminy and Van Der Merwe instead of Kleinveldt & Albie Morkel. :facepalm

Anyways, it was India's day. ;)

They didn't exactly do a good job, especially in the final few overs. Excellent and a very well-deserved victory for India, but our performance with the ball is worrying me a bit. IMO Zaheer should never have been dropped.

This match might look close on paper but it never really was. Youseless bowling second last over confirms it. India hardly sweated while bowling.

Ordinary captaincy by Smith. Very ordinary!

With 19 overs being bowled by quick bowlers which were genuinely quick, they should have atleast bowled 19 bouncers against Indian batting line-up but they didn't which is where they missed a huge trick.

Other than that, Steyn didn't get enough balls against Raina when he new to the crease. Another mistake.

I expected better.

Perhaps that is because Smith is an ordinary captain. Even at Test level he is conservative to the point of making Repubicans look like gay GreenPeace activisits

Smith is an overhyped cricketer tbh

I agree.. Smith missed a major trick there. In his attempt to not let the Indian batsmen settle down against one particular bowler, he let Raina not face Steyn much when he was at his most vulnerable and Smith/SA paid heavily for it.

I didn't get what Dhoni and Afridi thought of giving their spinners more chance, and avoided seamers.

MS Dhoni against SAF gave Praveen Kumar (who swings in both the ways) just 1 over in which he gave just 3 runs. Yusuf Pathan completed his 4 overs and gave away 42 runs, Chawla gave away 27 runs in his 3 overs and Jadeja agve away 37 runs in his 4 overs.

On the other hand, Afridi couldn't even think of giving a ball to Abdul Razzaq, an experienced all-rounder (who has the ability to bowl in-swings). Sami gave away 54 runs in his 4 overs quota, Hafeez gave 47 runs in his 4 overs and Afridi himself gave 33 runs without a wicket in 24 balls he bowled.

I know west indian tracks are helping spinners but when opposition is thrashing spinners, then seamers can take wickets and control the boundaries.

VERY STRANGE !!!
