Sanath Jayasuria:Since we have Murlidharan and a few others who can spin the ball well on dusty tracks , we have decided to field and put on SAF to bat

S.Pollock: It's a crucial match for us so good to bat first..we'll try to put up a challenging target for them..

[b:post_uid0]SA rescued by Rhodes & Klusener[/b:post_uid0]

SA reached a decent total of 209/8 at Johannesburg. An attacking start soon turned into collapse (5/56) as Vaas bowling good line and length got some quick wickets. Lance Klusener finall answered the call as he smashed SL attack all over the park. When Rhodes-Klusener partnership reached 50, Zulu had scored 42 of them.
Not to be left behind, Rhodes played a superb knock..batting sensibly and attacking the right deliveries he went on to score 81 before running out on 2nd last ball. Ntini smashed the only ball he faced for a huge 6 and SA reached 209.. Also to be blamed was SL fielding dropping 6 catches.
Jaysurya indicated his intentions though as he took 16 runs off Pollocks 1st over

Vaas bowled a good 1st spell..not much to show for rest of bowling and Murali had just 2 overs on pitch that showed signs of turn..

Good effort there by South Africa. Its a game they have to win to have any chance of progressing to the Semi Final's.

Sril Lanka will be looking to Jayasuria to head their counter attack !!

That was a great match! I think we can now assume that South Africa is out of the tournament?

S. Pollock: Things never seem to go right for us in WC. I thought we were in good position this time but dropped catches cost us the Worldcup..
