raider_64,
I play the game on PS2 and so far I haven't noticed there's any relation between the strength of a shot to the length of time the button was pressed. Same is the case regarding placement - generally the ball goes in a pre-determined way for a cover drive, on drive and so on. You can't change the placement of the shot using analog controller similar to BLIC 2K5.

It would be great if you can post some pics regarding placement of the shot along with strength of the shot. For normal shot (X with direction in PS2), the shots never have enough power to reach boundaries, no matter how long you press the key/button. Most of the times (read always), you have to rely on advance down the wicket shots (O) to generate enough power in the shots to beat fielders.

Hey can u tell me how do u play i.e when do u press the shot key.

I can see the file 'Cricket2005 2006-03-13 16-35-21-87.avi' but am not able to download or play it - there doesn't seem to be any link to do so.

Lemme know how to download or play the file.

As for playing shots, for front foot shots, I press the button when the ball is about to hit the pitch. For back foot shots, I press the button slightly earlier than the front foot shots. For playing lofted shots (with six hit button), I press the button a bit earlier than playing ground shots. Thus, for playing a lofted front-foot shot, you need to press the button a wee bit earlier than playing a ground shot.

For playing advance down the wicket shot, I press the button just before the bowler releases or delivers the ball. For lofted advance cover drive, you should get an easy 1 bounce 4 most of the times (with occasional six) and for lofted advance straight or advance on drive, you should get a 6.

Two things I never noticed in the manual before is that it mentions to play a perfect shot you have to press the direction buttons and frontfoot/backfoot button at the SAME time. Also not all players can play certain shots perfectly, you have to check their stats. Not sure if that affects play or not.

Well as soon as u get to the website go to the bottom of the page and u will see a timer, which tells u time left before downloading starts.

I dont agree with that. why because i have opened the confis file for batting. In the config file there are two things when it comes to the direction of the shot.

One is Direction and the Direction Area.

Direction specifes where the bowl is suppose to go when timed to perfection.

Whereas Direction Area spreads the area for playing that shot. i.e specifies with within what areas of the field the ball can goto.

Downloaded the file... direction area in cricket 2K5 only consists of 2 or 3 paths a ball can take for a shot and mostly fielders are placed in those positions. E.g., in odis when fielding restriction is on, you can't score through covers as every shot goes to a fielder. In BLIC 2K5 you can place the ball anywhere using analog controller.

Well Mate,

U r mistaken, becuase i fu have the direction wheel, it clearly shows the spread of the direction area. The Direction sets the perfect shotand starts the shot direction from there and the direction area is the distance area where to stop.

Well i dont how else to explain it to u. but i have played shots which have covered almost whole ground.

THat guard isn't as good in a test because you'll get bowled. But in ODI's its what I use too and is great.

Are you playing the game on PC and using a patch? Coz there's a lot of difference in the power of shots in your video as compared to what I see on PS2. On PS2 every normal shot (front foot or back foot) simply crawls to a fielder, no matter how you time it - the only shots you can play are sweep and leg glance (back foot and front foot). Other than that you always have to play advance down the wicket shots to beat the field and to generate sufficient power in your shots.

It looks like the gameplay differs on PC & PS2. Anyone here who has played the game on PC as well as PS2???

Hey,

Well i play the game on Pc. And Dont use any of the patches except the batpack. there is lot in this game. This game is not that easy as we had in cric2004. Like i told u before u really have to put urself in the game. Batting for me is challenging and thats was best about this game.

I guess is a little TOO realistic for its own good. Not all cricketers are good batsman and its something you really got to work on. I'm trying constantly!

I don't know why people are complaining in this game. All you have to do is practice a little and you will start timing them pretty well.
I finally got the game and played my first match making 191 all-out in 34 overs and bowled them all-out for 106 in 31 overs. The nets have really helped too.
