Help!How to root my Galaxy Note running ICS?

Hello PC!I am using a Galaxy Note with ICS in it.I have heard a lot about rooting androids to expolit the full activities and services.Can someone guide me to root my mobile succesfully and also help in understanding the pros and cons of the same?

Generally for most android queries, XDA is the best site.

What version of ICS are you using? If its 4.0.1*, then DooMLoRD's Toolkit is the best. Otherwise you would have to flash it(risky for a newbie)

If you pay attention to what is the procedure, then nope. One wrong mistake, and then you brick the phone. Rooting is legal, so even if you brick, the service centers should repair it with a particular cost. Atleast Samsung and Sony do.
