Hindi Music Thread

Heard 'Aur Ho' yesterday itself, another excellent song. I completely agree with you, Sai, about Rockstar is the best music album in bollywood in the last 2 years or so. Kun Faya Kun is a nice song but not my favorite from the album. I like mostly all the songs from the album, apart from one or two. Mohit Chauhan has done remarkable job, I'll honest and say that I didn't really expect Mohit to sing so well in this film. I've always been fan of his songs but I'm fan of those of his songs, which are not very loud (like Tune Jo Na Kaha) and I did not expect him to sing a song like Sadda Haq so well. It's a must listen album, that's my point. :p

Those who've been to Fun Cinemas are more likely to be acquainted with this rendition of Jana Gana Mana. Seriously, such beautiful music - I am not in the least patriotic towards India, yet absolutely love this! The video showing the Indian Army at Siachen Glacier is amazing as well. Strikes a chord in the heart!

Bollywood music is so down in the dumps. There doesn't seem to be much exciting music in the horizon for Bollywood. The likes of Pritam, Vishal-Shekar, Salim-Sulaiman don't inspire much or entertain much these days with their music. SEL have reduced the amount of music they do, and their music always sounds similar to their other works. Rahman is concentrating in Hollywood, though a few albums of his are coming up the horizon this year end.

Its an indicator that this thread has been lying low for quite sometime now until Varun and now I are bumping it up.:D

After a long time, liked a Hindi track. Its really got a catchy tune very similar to that of the 'Arabian Nights'.

Songs of the movie Jism 2 are quite nice.I really like the song Abhi-abhi sung by K.K of the film.

Wonder what's up with Bollywood's composers these days? Why do they make such boring songs? Just yawned big time hearing the songs of "Student of the Year" from Karan Johar. Vishal-Shekar, Salim-Sulaiman, Pritam, etc these guys get the big chunk of the mainstream projects these days in Bollywood and sad to say, all of them make pretty mediocre and unattractive music. The same type of chorus, the same guitar arrangements, etc. Even Barfi had one good song or two, but the rest sounded just so similar to one another.

The "Radha" song in SOTY is a re-hash of Karan's own "Where's the Party Tonight" from KANK (but this time with a little Indian folk flavor added in). Bollywood music seriously needs a rehaul. Also not saying this out of partiality towards South or Tamil cinema, but Bollywood needs to hire some of these South music directors like GV Prakash Kumar, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Thaman more often if they want to get catchy music. Right now among Indian film music, Tamil cinema IS THE BEST in terms of quality and catchiness!

Bollywood is getting really obsessed with item numbered. They are turning normal songs in to crappy item numbers. They used to be good but they are now over used

Absolutely. Obsession towards item numbers is so irritating. Its ruining the quality of music that used to exist in Bollywood.

Rabbi Shergill is a Legend for Punjabi Music. After his most famous Bhullah ki Jana main kaun, here is another for Jab tak hai Jaan movie.
