Hindi Music Thread

The whole world is obsessed with shitty music so Indian cinema and audience isn't an exception. The only problem is that the great music often goes unnoticed. Even I don't notice it, haha, but that is because I don't listen to most 'freshly prepared' Hindi songs.

----------

Not always true though, Rockstar's music was genuine and brilliant, and it did get noticed. But couldn't we have said that the masses would have liked the songs nevertheless, given they also liked Sheila Ki Jawani (which except Katrina, was atrocious, let's admit it) and other countless songs, especially item songs?

Warming up big time with the album of "Jab Tak Hai Jaan". Not really a "Rockstar", but this is a breezy romantic album fitting the aura of Yash Chopra. Rahman has delivered a fitting album for Yash Chopra....

"Saans" by Shreya Goshal and Mohit Chauhan gives goosebumps... "Ishq Shava", "Challa" and "Jiya Re" are peppy enough and groovy. I have not yet started liking "Heer" by Harshdeep Kaur and the title track "Jab Tak Hai Jaan". The Instrumental track is just crap (can't understand how Rahman could come up with such a bad instrumental track that's just complete noise). But this album is worthy of a Yash Chopra love story! "Saans" is just FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!! Shreya Goshal just rapes your heart strings!:cheers

^Yes, the music is awesome and so are the voices and singing of Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. But the lyrics! I mean what the hell was Gulzar thinking!

"Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi"

That is crap!:facepalm

It should be read like this

"Saans Me Teri, ,Saans Mili Toh, Mujhe Saans Aayi Mujhe Saans Aayi".

Yeah, thats how the song goes too, but what does that mean?

'When in your breath, breath meets, I breathe.'

I may seem stupid to translate it in such a way, but really there's no other way I can understand them. Good music and singing gets wasted I feel.

I really didn't like the album it is bad didn't expected this from Rahman sahab
For me "Saans" was what the hell is this? man it was not at all pleasing.

whereas Rush has a good album.great songs .its like that Emraan Haasmi is directly proportional to good songs.

Really? For me, "Saans" is the best song of the album followed by "Challa". Romance oozes out perfectly from the "Saans" song. I have not seen the visuals yet (that have released), but the track and the singing is just magnificient! Its a vintage Rahman track...

Just curious - how many times have you heard the songs? I started liking "Saans" on second listen only. If you have listened only once, try a second time. Why this happens is, when such a big combo happens, our expectations are built based on the combo's previous individual hits and so we create some kind of an unrealistic expectation of how the songs should be, and on first listen all those expectations are squashed which makes us feel uneasy. The subsequent listenings are more in sync with what the album actually is worth, and that's when we started liking stuff mostly!

With Rahman especially, this is the biggest truth! His songs take time growing on us... Not defending him (sometimes his songs don't impress even on subsequent listenings), but I always give his albums atleast 3-4 listenings (he deserves that respect IMO).

I am currently loving "Ishq Shava" and "Jiya Re" too. Esp. "Jiya Re" brings back memories of the Rahman of the vintage 90's. Especially Tamil film fans will understand why I say this.

Looks like the "Jab Tak Hai Jaan - Poem" is going to be an integral part of the background score of the film. Pretty well composed by Rahman, and the narration by SRK is quite good!:yes This album is a sure shot hit just based on its quality! And of course, the huge reputations of the people involved with it will easily help it attain super hit (or maybe even super duper hit status).

Recently flicked on the 9xm (music channel) and saw a new "item number" by Karena Kapoor, no idea what the songs called, by my lord are the lyrics getting bad. Its just how little you can get the actress to wear now. Most films you can't watch with your family now

Its "Halkat Jawani" from the new movie 'Heroine'

Though I would get back in to bollywood music, need some update on decent songs. My genre is everything. Any good songs lately

"Talaash" songs are pretty kick-ass stuff! There are some shades of "Don" in Talaash's music, but its just to remind viewers whose film this is. Only one track (Hona Hai Kya) has that semblance.

Love the music of Talaash. Hope the movie too lives up to its huge hype!
