Hi guys

I've launched a new site - http://www.hitwicket.org

It's still under major development, but it should begin to take shape tonight.

What I want to know is what the consumer wants to see in a website. I do not want to churn out another site that delivers the same thing as everyone else does, rather something a little bit different.

Here are my idea's so far, rate them how you wish.

General news and articles from the cricket scene.
Blogs - written by different authors supporting different teams. There would be an indian blog, an Australian one, a British one, etc etc. We can also go even further by dipping into domestic teams.
Special things like player of the month, stat analysis, etc.

Video blogs - a weekly/biweekly show that will be on a YT channel which would recap the stories in world cricket during that time period. This will take a while to start up, and i'll probably need some help with it.

Podcasts, similar to the Vlogs.

Player interviews - I already got a few lined up ;) (Aakash Chopra!)

All C+C is appreciated.

Also, what's a good slogan for the site? Has to be catchy and creative. Remember, the site is called hitwicket.org so something thats got to do with that ;)

Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea actually. I think if you can put the time into it and get the right people to help it could be big. Good luck.

For a slogan, how about "We hit the bail on the head".

I'm going to check this out, because:

A) It's you, so will probs be good quality.
B) You've set your first post out well
C) It's seems you have a few unique ideas

:D

I need some help of the more 'techie' people here.

I've got the basic template up - hitwicket.org - Home

Anyone know how to change the text in the 'Sporticus' box? I don't know if its a whole picture I have to change or just the text.

And anyone know how to get rid of the 'Open source matters' box?

Urghh, sorry, but where is the Sporticus box? :p

Anyways, for the open source matters thingy, you'll have to edit the header file for the template, search for this line and delete it -

<img src="http://hitwicket.org/images/banners/osmbanner1.png" border="0" alt="Advertisement" />

Or incase you want some other image, just change the image path.

Edit - By the sporticus box do you mean the banner at the top? Yeah its a whole image, you'll have to make a new banner and upload it in place of it. Just name the new banner as blank.png and upload it at www.hitwicket.org/images folder. That should superimpose the current banner.

It's not blank.png
I think you will find it in :
Code:

Okay, how much did he pay you? :)

Anyways, you need a live news feed thing. That's always nice. Oooh, and some sort game section too.

Welcome to Hitwicket!

Hello everyone!

I'd like to welcome everyone to hitwicket.org! Here, you will find articles, blogs, videos, and interviews from all over the cricket world! The site is still under major renovations and is still taking shape, so please bare with us!

Thanks!

You didn't mean that did ya ?? :p

The idea is super but the present theme (skin) isn't the greatest. Try a lighter theme. Dark somehow doesn't seem to go with cricket, atleast for me.
