How on earth is Twenty20 the future of cricket?

T20 needs to be controlled and BCCI's evil reign over cricket must come to an end for the sake of Cricket's future

You, sir, are a clown. We all saw the ECB grovel and prostrate themselves before Stanford for his money. We saw them attempt to ape the IPL after seeing India's success with it. In recent weeks, we've read that the Australian, South African, and New Zealand boards want to initiate their own imitation and all you can do with that deluded and self-abhorring mind of yours is to blame India.

I agree with Most posts here. 20/20 needs to be controlled. 1 or maybe 2 max on some occasions per international tour and maybe a 20/20 world cup every few years and Domestic 20/20 of course. thats all thats needed. No IPL

The sad thing is I remember reading something awhile ago saying parents in India want to train there children to play IPL instead of Test/ international cricket because IPL brings in quick money. Thats going to hurt Indias Test playing if its true.

Of course they do, the BCCI will rake in the millions/billions over the next few years and the rest of the cricket boards don't want to get left behind.

The BCCI is still to blame for the entire 'revolutionising' of Twenty20, and while other boards want to get involved too now that they've seen how massive the IPL was, that still doesn't make the BCCI any less influential, it makes them more.

That's Aussie banging that is, I'm sick of it.

But yeah, 2020 should just be seen as a form of pure entertainment, and not really "real" cricket, just a family day out, I guess. It's full and well blaming the BCCI for starting the whole 2020 revolution, but to me, it's just that they were the first ones to exploit the particular market.

That's right. England came up with the Twenty20 concept. The BCCI adopted the concept, went about marketing it in an innovative manner, and created a large commercial market. Now, the rest of the boards want to play catch up.

You can blame the BCCI for 'revolutionising' the Twenty20 all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that none of the other boards are any better. They are all in this for the money, which the ECB more than made evident in in its dealings with Stanford. The Australian board's decision to try to create their imitation of the IPL doesn't instill me with great confidence that they care about the welfare of cricket either.

Given this, you can probably understand why some of us find it amusing and a touch hypocritical when we see folks lamenting about the BCCI and their less than charitable ways, while largely ignoring the actions of their own boards.

I dont see why you guys are afraid of 3 hours of cricket game. Working guys like me can watch cricket in prime time this way. Most of you kids are free whole day so you wanna watch test cricket.

But you dont have school till 7:00 or 8:00 PM :p

So you use blackberry in school or hide mysteriously in computer labs or bunk classes as I have seen posts during test match play from you guys.

Well kids are lucky here. They have school till 2:00 PM max.

That's on the weekends. Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm (roughly) Australians have school.

Ya same here I will post on PC on weekend matches but sometimes on working days as well because I have lunch so I just go to resource room and check the score and maybe check PC for 6mins. Yes 20-20 needs to be controlled. I dont want to see 20-20 cricket take over the world and I would rather see a test match than a 20-20.

I'm guessing he has not done Geography, which was why I let it roll. But yeah, nearly every single country in Africa have economic problems

I know African countries have economic problems. Even my own country has a lot of economic problems and its considered one of the poorest countries but so what? Arent people like me watching TV there?
