How will your team look for the next T20 World Cup?

1. D.Warner
2. T.Paine (wk)
3. S.Marsh
4. D.Hussey
5. C.White (c)
6. S.Watson
7. S.Smith
8. M.Johnson
9. S.Tait
10. N.Rimmington/N.Hauritz
11. D.Bollinger

I thought he was becoming a NZ citizen as well... Kane Williamson, Grant Elliott, Trent Boult, Corey Anderson? Not so sure about Broom though.

Corey Anderson could well take that middle order spot. Broom has still got to prove his limited overs game at a domestic level, as do those other names. They're definately talented but not up to international standard yet. In 2 years, who knows

Imran Nazir
Salman Butt
Umer Akmal
Shoaib Malik (c)
Kamran Akmal (wk)
Fawad Alam
Abdur Rehman
Saeed Ajmal
Shoaib Akhtar (c)
Mohammad Aamer
Anwar Ali.

This will be my team.

Shoaib is already nearly 35 and declining. I doubt he will even be around at 37 and if he is, not international standard.

Oh gee this is 2 years away, why????
So we can dig it up and laugh

Yah, I see the issue but I was kinda hoping people might elaborate a bit more rather than trying to project an exact XI. I made a sample XI trying to fix the issues with Australia's performance, but I'd prefer emphasis on the issues not the XI.

I cant see Clarke becoming a good T20 player at all. Nothing about his games suits T20 cricket. Forget about in this format.

I'd personally hope Haddin is still playing all 3 formats by 2012 even @ 35. Gilchrist was still good enough @ 35. So i'd hope Haddin is still playing well in two years time & involved in the T20 set-up.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Nannes in the next few years. He basically will be the premier T20 freelance bowler in the world in the IPL (if it still continues), the KFC big bash & maybe at a English county. He wont be playing no test - although he may play a few ODIs for Victoria. So i'd say he will be pretty fresh in 2 years time. So i wont write off the chances of him playing then just yet.

I've always been interested in Doherty as a spinner since his under-19 days. But i never seen him bowl ever. Based on what you've seen of him in AUS domestic cricket, you think he could make the step up ATS @ international level to be a T20 or 50 overs bowler?.

Mitchell Marsh looks special. Could be a good all-rounder in another two years indeed.

Well I've made no secret, I like Clarke. I hope they give him a year to sort his T20 game out. His whole T20 career has been made up of one-off T20 internationals to start and finish seasons. How is a guy who's struggling to find his way in T20 meant to improve? Answer, he HAS to play IPL to get the practice. There's nothing else he can do apart from stuff in the nets. He's not available for the Big Bash, NSW didn't make the Champions League and he'll get 2-3 T20s this coming summer. I don't think he far off personally. If his run rate can get to 7 RPO, rather than 6 (or 5-5.5 in this tournament :() then I think he's a great guy to bat around. I say let him play for Warney in the IPL and if he doesn't show anything, turf him. But at least give the guy the chance to improve. At the moment, how does he do that?

Yeah, Nannes could be still around by then but I'm certainly not going to rely on it. I'd rather the young guys start getting their games together.

Haddin? Kind of the same. Sure, he COULD play. But I think it would be better for Aussie cricket to get someone else into the international setup. For starters it rests Haddin, but it gives a Paine/Ronchi/Wade the chance to bond with the squad and feel some high level pressure before they hit Test and ODI cricket full-time.

Doherty? Honestly haven't seen much of him. Read reports mainly. But from what I hear I think he could make it and it might at least put some pressure on Hauritz and Smith to keep working hard.

Mitch Marsh could be excellent yeah. And given the 2 years until next tourny if Shane Watson can't handle the load I'd love to see Mitch get a shot as the bowler in that top 6. Moises Henriques would also be close hopefully for that all-rounder role.

Well Clarke is the one by passing the IPL all the time, even by passed the Champions League tournament. That in itself doesn't sound like a player too keen to play T20 let alone captain the International side. He shouldn't be picked until he shows form in the IPL and going by what CA are doing the expanded Big Bash.

Haddin like Clarke just hasn't played enough T20 matches and doesn't have the record to be picked. Paine was the standout in the KFC Big Bash with his strike rate of 200.

^Agree that Clarke shouldn't be picked unless he shows something. I wouldn't be surprised if Bingle was the cause of him not playing in the IPL the last 3 times, although the heavy schedule particularly in 2009 wouldn't have helped. At least now we'll see how much value he wants to put on T20. If he really wants to play for Australia and improve his game, he'll have to sacrifice his time off to play there.

I don`t see teams planning for a T20 World Cup, the way they do for the ICC Cricket World Cup. It does not seem to be that kind of event to me. I feel that sides only look at the players who are doing well in other forms of the game and pick them in the squad along with a couple of random new comers with talent.

I talk about Australia..........I think they need more big players for t20 format..Specially like Paine and Warner...these t20 specialist make the game special...if they create some more speicialist 2 or 3 players then they can easily becomes champions.

I think there will be Sehwag back for India, Saurabh Tiwary may come in and so as Ambati Rayadu.

Bangladesh team should look like this:

Tamim Iqbal

Naeem Islam/Suhrawardy Shuvo
Mashrafe Mortaza
