International Cricket Council has introduced 'People's Choice Award' from this year.

In making their choice for who they believe should win the LG People's Choice Award, fans are asked to consider the player who during the voting period (24 August 2009-10 September 2010) has had an all-round impact on the sport. Not only will the winning player have shown themselves to not only be the most innovative, dynamic and intelligent star in world cricket, but also somebody who has the ability to engage and excite spectators of all ages in different formats of the game. They must also have conducted themselves in a positive manner both on and off the field.

The five nominees are:
  • Michael Hussey
  • Mahela Jayawardene
  • Andrew Strauss
  • Sachin Tendulkar
  • AB De Villiers
To vote, follow the link given below:

Online voting, why even bother. It will always be an Indian

Is there any point?

Sachin will win by sheer weight of Indian supporters.

Tendulkar would probably be the only one to have scored roughly 1000 runs in tests and ODIs during this period. He has played some of his best ODI knocks duting the past 1 year. 175 vs Australia and 200 vs SA spring to mind. He should win this hands down.

I also think that the nominees are a bit rubbish as well. Swann has had a bigger effect for England, was part of the winning Twenty20 campaign and has a great personality off the field all traits that would suit this award.

Lol @ the "Video" wtf is that suppose to be? We all know how they look. Least they could do is put few of their best shots, if not a highlights.

Actually the guy who's scored the most runs in the last 12 months in all forms of cricket has been Shane Watson - but he's played more than double the number of innings Tendulkar has. Watson's also equal 5th on the wicket taking list too - a great year for the angry blonde :p

But as has already been mentioned, the poll is pointless anyway as soon as Tendulkar was nominated. If Sachin isn't at least triple the votes of the other options then I'll be surprised. He truly is world cricket's universally loved star.

Really the award has nothing to do with runs scored or wickets taken. It's whoever has had the biggest impact on the sport and similar criteria. Vettori should be there for being captain/coach/selector/best player and a good guy :)

I actually would have vote for Swann or Aamer.

But yea, Sachin is the people's choice, considering 60% of said people are Indian...

I bet Indian men think of Sachin when they are making love to their wives.

I would have voted for Vettori, but since he's not there, I'm not even going to bother voting.

Tendulkar in a landslide...

I voted for de Villiers but we all know SRT is going to win. The ICC is just doing this poll just so it seems fair for the other players. They've probably already got the trophy engraved with Tendulkar's name.
