ICC Awards 2012

An explanation is due at the very least.

The thing which bothers me is that how can you justify Philander making the cut when he has only played tests right? Granted, his performance was excellent and warrants a nomination in the TEST cricketer of the year, but when you have Ajmal on one end and Philander on the other and to decide the cricketer of the year, I think you really have only one choice.

Philander to me is shocking nomination by the jury or it might be mistake as jury mix up ICC Test player award with ICC player of the year award.
ICC player of the year award must goes to the player who is consistent in all formats of the game.

Maybe for some, this will be a sour sentence but its a bitter reality if Pakistan does the Boycott nothing gonna change rather the blame will come towards Pakistan, However England and South Africa had that leverage to get benefit. Its simply ignorance and injustice from ICC's part not to Induct Ajmal in the final lists of main awards, apart from that the other selection is pathetic as well. Clearly biased.

I am with lots of other fans who really think that ICC is Hijacked by some groups and it clearly needs re-structuring in procedures and Human Resource.

not really, it should go to the most impressive cricketer and nothing more. it's mid 2011 to mid 2012, or to make the more relevant point about the time frame, immediatly after a one day world cup.

who gives a toss about ODIs after the world cup? in the run up it's quite interesting as teams begin to focus on shaping their line up and occassionally you have interludes like the champions trophy which are competitive, sought after events but in all honesty I have little idea of anything that happend in ODIs in the last year beyond a few headlines like kohli's breathtaking run of form or bangladesh making the asia cup final and only losing by 2 runs.

sure in a world cup or twenty20 year other formats should figure heavily but right now they're not particularly relevant.

Totally agree plus one more thing he(ajmal)is taking wickets day by day and that every wicket is slap in icc face:p

Sangakara is killing it, 3 awards for him. Dharmasena is the umpire of the year

sangakkara won.

not sure many people expected that (though it was wide open) he did score the most runs over the period and 5 hundreds including a really important one versus south africa. he's been in better form in the past though, maybe a bit of a retrospective slant to this, he's definitely been one of the best batsmen of the era but never got the credit at the time of his peak.

I'm glad Sanga won the People's Choice Award. I voted for him but I'm pleasantly surprised he won 3 awards.

Virat Kohli and deservingly the ODI cricketer of the year award. I hope his feet remain down to earth after this.

Kohli is a beast. He will only get better with the passage of time!

Quite surprised Ajmal didn't win Cricketer of the Year, oh right, he wasn't nominated. :p
