ICC Awards 2012

6th august 2011 to 6th august 2012, i think, very close to that anyway, the england series was sort of cut in half by it (which maybe is silly actually) so only his ton in the last test would have counted.

I also think tendulkars inclusion is silly for ODIs, but then for all it matters they might as well have named me as a candidate for the ODI player of the year. kohli is so impossibly ahead of everyone else the other nominees are nothing but garnish.

August to August eh, July to July would make more sense imo.

Here's my pick for the awards.

ICC Cricketer of the Year: Hashim Amla
ICC Test Cricketer of the Year: Hashim Amla
ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year: Virat Kohli
ICC T20I Performance of the Year: Richard Levi
ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year: Sunil Narine
ICC Associate and Affiliate Cricketer of the Year: George Dockrell
ICC Umpire of the Year: Aleem Dar
ICC Spirit of Cricket: Jacques Kallis
People's Choice Award: Kumar Sangakkara

----------

Sorry Women's Cricket fans, Ellyse Perry wasn't nominated for any of the awards. :rolleyes

People's choice award is a farce. An Indian is going to win it every time.

Since the nominations are out, thought it's better to discuss them here.

List of nominees

ICC Cricketer of the Year:
Hashim Amla

ICC Test Cricketer of the Year:
Hashim Amla

ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year:
Virat Kohli

ICC T20I Performance of the Year:
Chris Gayle

ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year:
Sunil Narine

ICC Spirit of Cricket:
AB de Villiers

People's Choice Award:
Sachin Tendulkar

I really don't know how well did the people in other categories perform.
Narine is easily the best newbie in international cricketer. Kohli deserves the ODI cricketer of the year, for all the efforts he has taken to ensure that team has done everything it can after being lost for a while. Hashin Amla should be Cricketer of the year IMO.

And it is obvious that People's Choice Award will go to Tendulkar;).

People's choice is one category that needs to be scrapped. Cause,if left to the people, the mad cricket lovers will obviously vote for Tendulkar. I am not against him winning any awards or so, but what surprises me is that he has hardly played any ODI's last year.

In Eng =0
V Win= 0
v Aus/SRL=4
Asia Cup=3

You cannot put a player into the nomination cycle if he has just played 7 games, no matter then, even if he is Sir Donald Bradman.

I was expecting Sehwag to be in that list after his 219 v West India.

Meh, who cares who is nominated? Like Stinky said, Kohli is a country mile ahead of any competitor.

The People's Choice Award isn't just for ODI cricket, all forms.

There are some absolutely silly picks in there. I'd have Chanderpaul and Ajmal instead of Clarke and Philander of ICC Cricketr of the year. I'd put Azhar Ali in as emerging cricketer of the year too, his got 4 test centuries if I'm not mistaken. May be he is over age.

Philander is one of the leading nominees to bag the award. Seems like you have forgotten his bowling last year.

The problem with Azhar Ali is that he didn't make his debut in the last one year, he made it in 2010 if I'm not mistaken.

Do debut timings count? I didn't realise that, if they do then fair enough. But Ajmal not even nominated for either test cricketer or ODI cricketer is blasphemy. I wana know who is in the selection committee for this crap.

the guy who demolished number 1 team is no where near to be seen.
