ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Might those dots have been intentional to speed up play in anticipation of rain?

What the fearsome tweak, another match affected by rain

WTH? Another rain affected match? This is getting so annoying... Anyways, well done to Pakistan. Well they bowled really well and kept SA down to a really tight total. And they did well enough to not lose a glut of wickets before the rain came. So you should say Pakistan actually earned their win today and can't credit their win to the rain.

This now makes Group B very exciting. Three teams can end up on 4 pts at the end of this group (results going in a certain way and with zero no-results) and the NRR could come into play. India did themselves great service by thrashing Pakistan heavily in the first game that their current NRR is +3.024. But they need to beat Sri Lanka tomorrow and beat them soundly so that their already super healthy NRR stays up there. Ironically these rain affected games have spiced up both groups in this tournament that we could expect an upset or two. I hope the upset is not on India.

On the weather, looks like we could get a full game tomorrow. Weather.com says 40% chance of rain in London and that too only in the night tomorrow. The day looks to be cloudy but clear with only 10% precipitation. We might get a full game.

They say the weekend is looking better so fingers crossed for some cricket.

Really? That would be great. We have a blockbuster weekend coming up. England vs Australia on Saturday (10th) and India vs South Africa on Sunday (11th). Both games will decide who goes through to the semis.

This Pakistan's win has set it up all well for this group. Makes this group matches much more interesting. And all the matches are critical !

This is Team Pakistan for you baby! A much deserved victory in the end. Completely outplayed South Africa in most departments. Played like champions and not number 8th ranked side yesterday. Micheal Slater said later that that is why it is so hard to play against Pakistan because you never know when they click.

Pakistan has this predictability to fire late in the tournament, They have always been vulnerable in their very first game in big tournaments. Juniad Khan proved that he is the material to look forward to alongside Aamir, Makes a perfect pair. He should have been the first choice in the game against India. An early momentum takes you into the game right away, The trick which Pakistan missed in their first game. I must say that ODI cricket beautifies with such marvelous bowling performances. In this era of the modern game of cricket, Pakistani bowlers troubled South Africans like they used to do with their bowling specialty in the great hay days of Cricket... Reverse Swing, Yorkers and some real aggression.

Hasan Ali has been a great find since last year's PSL. This guys is for the future seems like. Alongside, Guys like Fakhar Zaman are for the future. Pakistan's management needs to invest in these younger guys and prepare them for large scale. Please get rid of Oldies like Salman Butt. These younger batsmen deserve more chances and investment than tried and tested failed players.

I'd still say that Azhar Ali is a forced ODI player. I would prefer Shehzad playing in place of him but he seems a bit lost in the field as well. I think it is something with his confidence of regaining his spot which is looking difficult at the moment.

Sarfraz really performed well with his captaincy and the entire team looked gelled in. But I have my reservations regarding the death overs, He gave a pretty long straight spell to Aamir and Junaid, and Yorkers became too predictable, SA should have been wrapped up under 200 with better planning.

I feel that batting is the weakest link of Pakistan at the moment, Middle-order is not trust worthy and opening slot has to be reliable. Faheem Ashraf should be tried out in the next game against Srilanka in place of Shadab Khan. Though Azhar Ali should be replaced but I doubt it would happen for the next game.

It was a great fun to watch the game last night. It seemed that the great 90's era is back yesterday! :)

who thought having a tournament in England was a good idea?!

We are lucky that only 2 games have been lost to rain so far. Looking at the forecast for this week, the worst seems to be over in terms of the weather. Fingers crossed for that,

While India is favorite on paper in today's match, I really like the determination and hardwork Srilankan cricket putting in to get the team's old magic back. It was such a tough time for them after Sanga and Mahela left, The way they are standing up is indeed commendable. :clap
