We need to take wickets in the middle overs. No matter how good Pandya was made to look by Pakistan, he is not a 10-overs bowler yet. We will have to play Shami or Ashwin instead of Pandya and Bumrah. Also, we bowled 5 overs of Jadhav and Kohli to Perera when he was new to the crease.

Umesh is not your death bowler. He should be used to pick up wickets in the middle overs. Bumrah is too easy to milk for singles during the middle stages. You cannot win matches in the death these days. You need to pick up wickets in the middle overs to be in with a chance.
Bumrah is a one-trick pony. He is a specialist T20 bowler who bowls you really tight overs in a T20 game. In an ODI if you use him in the middle or early, he will go for runs. His USP is putting pressure when the batsmen need to score fast. Shami on the other hand is a good all round bowler for ODI and also tests. He attacks more and can also keep things tight when needed. Today's poor performance from Jadeja and Pandya with the ball exposed us unlike against Pakistan.
I feel Shami needs to return against South Africa, possibly for Bumrah. Rely on Kumar's death skills and Shami/Yadav's attack skills. I also think Jadhav needs to be dropped against SA. You cant field like that against a team that is far superior on the field (as South Africa is) and will hurt you for even a single lapse on the field. And Rohit/Dhawan need to be told that you can't score centuries with a below 100 S/R. By the time you reach a hundred, your S/R should be well into 110 range.

Nobody is blaming Bumrah for the loss today. Its about seeing 'who fits better into your goals'. Kumar can bowl anywhere. Yadav is attacking and can bowl early and middle (not as much in death, but still he can be backed for death). Shami is again an "anywhere" bowler. Bumrah is not very effective anywhere else except the death.

It's really good to see an unexperienced team chasing big total. Angelo Mathews experience helped Sri Lanka. Against South Africa Sri Lanka could've put a better effort if Mathews was there. He is the backbone of the Lankan batting!
Only 1 out and rest run outs and one retire hurt this reflects that Indian team still need consistency in their bowling. They need to bring Shami back. Cause you can't win matches by containing.
