ICC Warm Up Match (50 overs)
05-03-2007
England vs Bermuda
Beausojour Stadium, St. Lucia

Umpires: Aleem Dar & Rudi Kurtzoen
Toss: Bermuda (bat)

Englands World Cup starts in the sun soaked Beausojour Stadium with a modest crowd watching. England after losing the toss will look to make a good impact with the ball whereas the Bermudans will be hoping for some good batting from the batsmen. England field a team simlaur to that of the CB series with Vaughan replacing opening now with Joyce and Strauss missing out.

England fielding a strong side today so we would expect a easy win fro the English. However the pictch looks ideal fro batting so i wouldnt expect the Bermudans to be bowled out for too little.

Nick Knight said:
Absolutely David these Bermudans ahve got here through qualifying and they know how to play, its just a case of how well they are today against the English attack. On ther otherhand, regardless of the total they post you woull always expect England to win easily.

England too two ealry wickets but faield to restrict Bermuda with them reaching 116 for 2 at the half way point. David hemp has passed his 50 with the opener Smith on 33 togther amssign a huge 100 run partnership. Theres just been the one wicket for the bowlers with Flintoff picking it up caught behind. England will be hoping they can take more wickets int he next few overs to try and restrict the Bermudans on what looks a graet pitch.

Its a dissappointing tiem for the English and they shoulde have took more wickest then they have. However credit must be given to the Batsmen becuase they have looked solid and are on target for a good score.
Nick Knight said:
I think the English have bowled well and just havent had the luck. They have seen loads of chances sailign past fielders and i think its onyl a matter of tiem before they get the break through.

Bermuda posted an impressive 248 with England managing to take just 7 wickets. David Hemp top scored with 91 before falling to good pace bowling from James Anderson. Hemp found support from Deylone Borden who added 43 and Cann who added a good 24 from 25 balls. For England Flintoff starred again with 2 wickest fro just 31 from his ten but he had little support at the other end with Plunkett and Anderson managing just one wicket each. Panesar impressed again with a valuable 1 for 41 runs.

This is a great inninsg by the Bermudans and they have shown what they are capable of. However they probaly havent got enough as this track looks a belter and hopefully the English will find some runs in it.
Nick Knight said:
Taking nothing away from the Bermudans but England were below par and should have had the Bermudans all out. But they abtted well and now England need to get those runs comfortbaly.
Bermuda lead by 248 Runs

ICC20072007-04-0917-50-13-87.jpg

England have made a modest start scoring 106 at just over 4 an over. Bell like all the batsmen who have batted so far has got in but he has looked the most settled with 33 runs already to his name. England were at one staged flying along at 6 runs an over but a wise move to bring on spin early has resulted in a drop in the runrate and increasing pressure on the batsmen to score. This pressure led to the dismissal of Joyce who played a sweep to try and get the runrate up but was undone by a good arm ball from Borden.

I think England will be happy with this start. Vaughan will be disappointed to have got out how he did and Joyce will be equally disappointed after he too may a good start. Despite this England should win from here.
Nick Knight said:
Absolutely David, England should win but the Bermudans have impressed especially the spin which looks to have stop the flow of runs putting pressure on the English.
England require 143 Runs
